It's the players right now. We saw this stretch last year when they were without Fred. They need an actual point guard to set everyone up. I watched Capella open several times on rim rolls for lobs. No lob thrown. I know he's not the Capella of old, but still. Hell, even Kd could go get a lob. When they get pressured full court, you got guys not coming back to get the ball. It's like they run down the court thinking they still have Fred out there. Jd Davison needs his shot. He's the closest thing we have to an actual point guard instead of these combo guards, that are forced to play point guard.

This team lacks the talent to overcome having a horrible coach in ime

This is what a natural point guard looks like. I know it's the g league or summer league but this kid has good vision.

“They were hoping the young core would develop more shooting”

Yea no schitt lol, I’m sure they’d want them to develop more bricks. Why are you arguing for the sake of arguing.

The rockets knew the benefits with their personnel decision…and likewise knew the risks. It’s not a surprise they are dead last in 3 pt attempts too (in 2025)

This is literally a discussion board…. This thread is coincidently about whether it’s the players or coaches fault… Do you know where you are?!

Get a better argument instead of one of some spoiled child…

Some child who can’t cope with the reality that we had bad injury luck and our young core hasn’t developed to the point where we are a true contender….

Both. There is one thing I never see mentioned. There was ONE time when Durant got doubled he did something good that he may not have realized. He started running backwards towards the half court line which dragged both defenders out with him. This added so much extra space. I don't get why he doesn't do this more. Back pedal to drag the defenders out even more for the pass.

We have, he’s just not available at the moment due to torn acl.. good thing though we went for a backup pg signing during the summer. Oh wait, we went for an ADDITIONAL backup center instead. SMH. I don’t know if it means that Stone is the one to blame here or if it’s Ime, since as a head coach he should have a say about the type of players the team needs. But either way, we could all see that just relying on Fred and Reed is not enough.

Both - obviously. I see Jabari spamming iso turnarounds at crazy low efficiency and then I see Amen turning down similar opportunities with better position/leverage all the time. Amen needs to have a couple of go to moves and Jabari needs to get sat down when he starts doing any kind of Iso. I am betting that the coaches are the problem in these two cases, but Amen should be more aggressive and Jabari should learn to stay in his lane and do what he is good at doing. When DFS is back to full speed, we can run a death lineup defense to keep Jabari off 3/4's who can drive/iso - because Jabari is not good at defending those types of players.

If they are Lerbons yeah, but not if they resemble upgraded playmaking Trevor Arizas with one heck of high Center of Gravity.....

    • This is a typical, the 23 year olds are not ready for the Championship but KD is but he is also 37 Campaign......

    • The vast discrepancy in time line and age makes it hard for Udoka to decide if he is going to commit to Developmental mode or Full out Championship mode......this mixture of both is not good enough.
    • Both sides are flawed.....Udoka just does not know his personnel well enough to execute and quite honestly he is sort of limited himself on Offense.
Conclusion: Still a close to the Top 3-5 talented team but abomination of play in Clutch time.

Neither. Just unfortunate basketball events and some stubbornness with the rotation.

. "The 35 action, Craig!!!" that Hollins gets all excited about provides an easy bucket as combobulated as it looks.
Problem is they run it 3x at most. We're left with no identity for now. Our pnR merchant is gone.

That should be the new name for the play. "35 action, Craig! "

Sengun is extremely safe when in Point Sengun mode. 1.5 of his 3.4 turnovers comes from getting the ball stripped as he makes his moves or offensive fouls.
Recently He has fallen in love with the alley oop to Amen(7) and Jabari(2). 5 turnovers trying to get those 9 alley oops

It would be interesting if any of the astute posters on this thread or forum could try to put themselves on the opponents' side and make a scouting report on the Rockets' players and coaches in preparation for a game. What would be recognized as weaknesses and strengths of the Rockets that could be exploited as an opponent?

Yep. Clutch should start each game thread one day earlier and let CFers post scouting reports. Ime would then read the posts and come up with the best game plans of his life.
