The way things have been going this deserves its own thread. Between Gold Cards and statues, coins, government buildings, to proposed arches in DC Trump wants his name on everything.

President Trump’s name was affixed to the front of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday morning, transforming what was constructed as a living memorial to the slain 35th president into another Trump-branded property in the capital.

The face of the building now reads: “THE DONALD J. TRUMP AND THE JOHN F. KENNEDY MEMORIAL CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS.”

Kerry Kennedy, whose father was Senator Robert F. Kennedy, posted on X: “Three years and one month from today, I’m going to grab a pickax and pull those letters off that building, but I’m going to need help holding the ladder. Are you in? Applying for my carpenter’s card today, so it’ll be a union job!!!”

Her brother Christopher Kennedy said in an email: “There is a difference between insult and injury. This is an insult. It is a distraction from the injury Trump is doing to the poor with cuts to snap, health care and special education. If we are going to fight this administration we will fight for the poor and not just ourselves.”

I’m gonna need the next Dem President to immediately bulldoze that ballroom, remove all that trash gold he plastered all over the WH, and replace his portrait with a picture of dog sh*t

his name is getting removed from the Kennedy Center at the earliest opportunity

demented gramps is desperate to leave some sort of legacy which is why he’s doing this, but it won’t work

I hope that when he dies and is looking up from hell, he can see that he left nothing behind

I would gladly have my tax dollars go to the destruction of that ballroom..Idc how much it costs

A picture of dog sh*t would be fitting. Or, maybe a picture of him, Epstein, and Ghislaine with a tin foil plaque saying Pedo and Predator, Traitor, Adulterer, Grifter, and Pathological Lying Con.

Congress designated the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as the official living memorial to JFK after his assassination. Only Congress can change its name, and it would not do so for a memorial honoring one of the most significant presidents in American history.

Living memorials exist to preserve history and meaning. Attempts to personalize them for self-promotion ultimately diminish both the institution and the culture they are meant to represent. There’s something profoundly sad about needing to insert oneself into any memorial, especially one meant to honor another president.

The latest non issue for those with TDS to obsess about... pretending they care about America and preserving history and meaning. The entire modern democrat party has devolved into an apparatus to destroy this. They have spent the last 10 years doing garbage no one asked for --

, glorifying George Floyd and now want to cry about preserving history which they try to rewrite. They caused this.

No wonder moderates overwhelmingly voted for Trump.

Ok you believe the guy is so great but you really believe it's okay to not let history determine your legacy and your God to brag

It's a bigger issue than him naming **** after himself

I don't agree with it but I see why he's doing it. Democrats literally had a 100 statues removed and dozens of buildings renamed because of George Floyd. It's a response to the mental illness of avoiding accountability because of some random confederate statue.

We are going to need to remove his name from a bunch of crap in a deTrumpification process, but I don't think I'd bulldoze the ballroom. The East Wing is gone and isn't coming back. I'd let the Preservation Committee come up with some good architectural plans on how best to use the building once it exists and not waste money destroying stuff. If it really can't be salvaged into something value-adding, then fine. But the White House does host large events so I have to think it can be useful.

The Kennedy Center naming thing is pretty galling and putting your own name on stuff is really tacky in general. You are supposed to let other people honor you that way. I, in general, don't like the practice of naming public buildings to honor people. They are heroes in one era and villains in the next. Even when they are heroes, they aren't gods who need idols to represent them. So just name your building after flowers or animals or something and confine your presidents to history books.

Well, the sort of overwhelming electoral win that it would take in the next presidential election to execute on such a repudiation of Trumpism without blowback probably isn't possible. Even if a pro-democracy candidate wins the next one, it'll be with a majority of only a couple percentage points at best, with MAGA taking 45%+ of the vote. As much as we would like to fantasize about a big F U to the Trump legacy, it just isn't smart. Long after Trump is dead and buried, we will have to contend with fascists gargling his balls. Push too hard and there will be a reactionary counterattack that will make us regret symbolic gestures. Imo.

Idk how else to say this, so no disrespect, but this sounds very weak.

Trump didn’t have some overwhelming electoral win. 6 of the swing states he won by 1-3%, and he barely won the popular vote. He is as unpopular as ever, yet he still tore down the East wing of the WH and is putting his name on everything. Y’all are always concerned about what they might do, and that is why they walk all over Democrats 24/7 365.

they can do whatever they want, but when it comes to Democrats they better not push too hard or they might make them angry

the same soft playbook the Dems have been running for over a decade as they get slapped around

playing nice with MAGA does nothing…they will do all their evil sh*t anyways

Oh, surprise surprise. Yet another thing named after Trump. Everything has to have his name on it or the word gold in it. He's such a narcissist.

President unveils new ‘Trump class’ fleet of battleships

The “Trump class” ships will form part of the new “Golden Fleet”

“The US Navy will lead the design of these ships along with me because I’m a very aesthetic person,” Trump said.

Nah, you use migrant labor to disassemble then reassemble in an underserved homeless area, then make it into a homeless shelter.
