By looking past couple weeks, I calling it that we put too much pressure on Alpi and Amen and their efficiency is falling fast. Alpi is great with the ball but right now the role is way ahead of his skill level and he’s making mistakes that would’ve benched him last year but getting away with it. Not overreacting but when hearing bunch of opponents announcers and coaches interview it’s clear they’re focus on shutting down KD and Reed. They rather gamble on Alpi and Amen having big night because 99% of the points are coming from paint from them which can be controlled easily while also doubling KD

Honestly, we don't have a franchise guy to "build around" yet. But we do have all the necessary ingredients in the rotation to be a very good offensive team.

Shooting: Reed, Durant, Jabari, Holiday (Tari and Okogie were shooting good too)
    Passing/creating: Reed, Sengun, Durant, Amen
Rim pressure: Sengun, Amen (Durant when he gets inside)
Offensive rebounding: Adams, Amen, Sengun (Tari and Capela when they are on the floor)

We can have at least two in each department on the floor at all time. Instead of one guy leading the offense like a lot of contenders, we can overwhelm the opponent with lots of guys attacking in different ways. What we need is having different sets to maximize them.

I think in 2 or 3 years one of our guys will become that franchise player.

It’s what Ime has been saying for a while, but his execution to the plan has not been there. Last night he was a bit better. The question would be, if we missed several of those 3 pt shots by Okogie or Reed, would he have stuck with the program. He is really bad at rotations and matchups which is exasperated by the injuries. I couldn’t believe all the screens they were setting for Reed. Now he needs to mix in some back screens and do completely away with the double bigs crap.

Out of rotational players he leads the team in Assist to Turnover ratio of 2.8 to 1......

He should be starting at PG, every game.

I don’t know if we should be “building around” him but I think he should definitely be considered one of the core four (Alpi, Amen, Jabari, and Reed).

It feels to me like the last few games Alpi is trying to force the All-Star narrative for himself instead of just playing within the flow of what the defense gives him. Last night against Denver was much better where he had the lowest point total of the starters (8) and the highest +/- (24).

Should we be building around Reed? No. Should we be building around the core four? Yes.

I love Alpi as a player overall but I’m not sure I’m loving this current “force the issue” version.

You can make an argument that he should be playing PG, but that’s a ridiculous one. It’s similar to the guys on here that said the PG’s primary duty was to bring the ball up to half court, until Amen started doing it every game and then it became unimportant, like it always was. Reed had a great game and part was because Ime started setting up plays for him. Double picks, shots off screens. The plan is and always has been that we would have multiple guys initiating the half-court. Fact is that Sheppard has played better off the bench than starting and, at least until this game, playing off ball than on. There is also the problem of him deferring too much when starting. FVV was 2.7 ast/to ratio last year and you hated him as a point guard. Reed like all young players is going to be up and down. It’s much more important for him to gain consistency and, like last game, play better defense than it is to start.

The Reed fanboys remind of the LOFs - he can do no wrong and the coach is preventing his greatness... lol

i hope he continues to develop and becomes consistent - but i aint ordering the statue just yet... lol

The majority of his games are among the highest impact on the court, you’re a hater but you’re not wrong about the thread title. The team has a group of young promising players. Senguin maybe but in reality they all work together can’t build around just 1

Reed is just going to have to take the ball and do it himself.

No, it’s r****d Ime fan boys that distill the game to “bUt mEH dEfEnse” or routinely blame him for every team woe even when he’s not in the game. They are incapable of sifting through the game in anything other than a superficial take. If Curry or any other non PJ Tucker player was on this team they’d say the same things.

Reed has played on this team for 2 months.

the people supporting him have been posting here for decades. They support Reed in certain endeavors because it makes the team better. How do they know this? Well it’s obvious and every metric backs it up. Why do the people that hate on him (similar to you) ignore this? They bought into their narrative and spend day in and day out on thsi site trying to add to it.

it’s a tradition, the less intelligent fans can’t seem to keep up and resort to emotional tactics , hating and scapegoating. Just look at your Lin comparison. Lmao an undrafted player vs the teams #3 lottery pick de facto rookie. It’s objectively stupid, intellectually lazy and makes you seem dumb. Calling out stupidity doesn’t make anybody a player only fan. Even Clutch, the moderation of this site has said Reed is the X factor and Udoka has to play him to develop him.

you’re alone on your Reed hating island buddy

It looks like KD is a Reed fan as well, and might be the 2nd most influential person in the organization as it relates to Reeds playing time and role. Here's hoping Ime, KD, and Alpi can all get on the same page concerning the direction the teams needs to go. Assuming that they aren't.

I admit it. When Reed has a game like the did against Denver I go full ret@rd. I start smiling and hugging everyone in my house. Life becomes beautiful to me. There are moments when he hits a three and I don't even see the net move I think I might be seeing the second coming of basketball Jesus. It's like the fabric of reality is peeled back for a moment and I see something glorious and precious. I don't understand it, but if I'm sick I don't want to be well.

The rest of the time I try and keep myself half ret@rd. But I'll scream it from the top of the mountain, "I love Reed Shepherd." No homo. Full ret@rd.
