Imagine being 21 and your vet is a top 10 player all time consistently singing your praises and hyping you up. Reed is going to be a hell of a player in his prime and this will have at least a little to do with it.
Reed's court vision and passing is ELITE. that pass to Amen was threading a needle, multiple hands in the passing lane and he has a pin point bullet pass to Amen. It seems like IME is actually adjusting his usage to playing more on ball rather than standing in the corner. I like it.
I’m gonna get flamed for this take but Reed really has become what Jalen Green was last year for this team. Meaning when he is on, the team just flat out wins, but when he lays a stinker or is a no show this team just cannot succeed without someone doing what he can do from the perimeter.
It sucks because the timeline shifted with KD but if Reed can find some type of consistency that would be huge. Especially with Imes ability to **** up an offense.
Reed has definitely leveled up and IMO catching up to Amen really fast. However one thing I've noticed is RN Reed gets his groove when coming from the bench than starting, I am sure if you look at his splits he performs better off the bench in fact the slump started when he got the start. So for now he should continue off the bench and run the 2nd unit IMO. He ends up playing starter minutes anyway including closing the game. Reed is def starting to look like Harden to me. Harden also taken no 3 and had a bad rookie year then bounced back on his 2nd year and never looked back.
For as much ups as Reed has, I would love to see him incorporate some Stevie Franchise or Starbury in his game.
To mê, given his playing time in his first year, 2025 is his first actual year with real opportunity and real NBA play setting (not garbage time). With his IQ reed is maturing fast and by the second half of the season, is believe reed will emerge as the kind of player that we all have envisioned when we recruited him. (Solid starter who could be our second/third best rockets player or bè the 6th man with a level of Malik monk)
Reed also doesn’t have close to Jalen’s usage over the past years. He isn’t the type of player to shoot that many shots. His highs and lows are not close to what Jalen looked like. He looks and finds others to get people involved. We can’t win when he plays bad because we don’t have a single point guard on the roster.
agreed needs to come off the bench until this play becomes consistent. We have a good thing going just don't mess with ti
I think the bigger difference is Reed has a very valuable skill with his high volume elite 3 point shooting at an elite level. One could argue Jalen can’t do anything super valuable at an elite level.
