Trade em for young prospects w 4 to 5 years of control. Nook. That makes sense. Might ding a year or 2 but if the prospects pick er up quickly then man o man o man are we sitting at the top of the hill. Dynasty for millennium and the glory and riches are ours. Let's get it.
Trade em... That makes sense Prospects pick er up Let's get after it...yall need to **** or get off the pot
If thats true. I would be pissed as a player If im getting paid 25 million a year. I would sure hate to lose 25 million. That would suck.
While I certainly oppose your conclusion, I not only respect your premise, but even moreso appreciate the Zest of your Vigor. GOOD DAY. GO STROS.
Bryan King for Kris Bubic? Apparently KC may in the market for a lefty reliever. Astros bullpen still has: Hader Abreu Sousa Pearson Okert Murray De Los Santos Ort Blubaugh (?) As a 7th inning guy, what is 5 years of Bryan King worth?
A 29 year old middle relief pitcher for a younger lefty starter that has been really good for 2 years in a row?
Updated hypothetical trades for #2 SP based on current market: Cole Ragans for Jake Meyers, Spencer Arrighetti, Bryan King, and Ethan Pecko Freddy Peralta for Spencer Arrighetti, Brice Matthews, Brice Mayer, and Walker Janek Mackenzie Gore for Brice Matthews, Miguel Ullola, Walker Janek, Joseph Sullivan, and Ethan Pecko Nick Pivetta for Brice Matthews, Miguel Ullola, and AJ Blubaugh Drew Rasmussen for Jake Meyers, Spencer Arrighetti, Walker Janek, and Brice Matthews Kris Bubic for Jake Meyers and Miguel Ullola Mitch Keller for Jesus Sanchez, Bryan King, Miguel Ullola, and Joseph Sullivan Shane Smith for Miguel Ullola, AJ Blubaugh, Spencer Arrighetti, and Ethan Pecko
I'd do the Peralta one in a heartbeat, but Milwaukee could get a much better offer elsewhere Our best chance at getting a legit #2 is likely moving Walker for whoever will pick up the biggest chunk of his salary, and then signing Ranger Pena SS Paredes 1B Yordan DH Correa 3B Altuve 2B Diaz C Cam RF Meyers CF Cole/Trammel/Sanchez/??? LF Brown Ranger Javier Burrows Weiss/Arrighetti/Blubaugh
Peralta is a rental and the Brewers aren’t gonna eat any money. It depends on what you think of Arrighetti as to how close that package could get. But yeah I agree another team may offer a better headliner. I also agree that at this long it might be worth it to add prospects to Walker to shed his salary, but in that case I’d rather them go after Framber than one the guys with a QO attached that would cost Houston a high pick.
I would do the Ragans trade, but would rather put Blubaugh or Ullola in the trade instead of Pecko. I bet Dana does the Rasmussen or Bubic trade though.
I understand wanting to stay away from the QO guys I just think the Framber bird has flown here in Houston. His melt down that ended with him intentionally throwing at his own catcher was the final straw in my opinion. What sucks is he offers the one thing that is extremely valuable when you only have 1 SP that you feel great about...Innings
I actually wonder if the cross up controversy might serve to push him back to Houston. The Astros know what Framber is and have proven they can manage his personality to keep him very productive on balance; that incident very likely didn’t really show the Astros anything they hadn’t seen signs of or didn’t expect to eventually happen. Other teams are probably more scared off by that than the Astros are (just my opinion). If Houston can get Framber back on something like $130M/4yrs (with maybe even a $30M 5th year vesting option) they should do it.
Most likely yes. But if Houston attached salary to Walker to dump his entire contract, they’d have $40M+ in 2026 money available under the CBT. They could then afford Framber and stay under the CBT.
Absolutely no way I would want the Astros to pay $30+ mil a season for Framber, especially for 4+ years. $25 mil/3. Anything more than that is an overpay on what he would give back in headaches. Also, he would publicly have to tell everyone he's not the ace of the staff then move Burrows ahead of him in the rotation. Last year was his FA year and he bombed. I'm very worried how much he literally doesn't give a **** when he gets a guaranteed contract.
If I was Dana Brown and it got down to looking like there’s a chance he could re-sign Framber, I’d put a $1 million bonus clause for him finishing top 6 in the cy young award for each year of the contract. I just really question if he will be the same guy after he gets paid.
