Divide P4 and G5 into 2 separate divisions - each with their own NC. This makes sense, since P4 is basically a professional league now anyway. Each division would have a 16-team playoff. P4 NC G5 NC FCS NC Division II NC I mean if your team can't crack the top 16, you weren't going to win a NC anyway.
I’m watching NC State and Memphis for some reason and it’s like I’m watching a scrimmage. There’s no way these kind of bowl games are going to continue for very much longer, it’s just awful.
Some of them are a lot of fun, but you just never know which ones. South Carolina State vs Prarie View was wild...did I watch it live? Nope.
Schools are limited to 15 spring football practices. Bowl games give teams 2-3 weeks of additional practice to prep for the following year. I think this is the main reason worthless bowl games nobody cares about continue on.
Lol brutal way to lose it you're Oklahoma's kicker missing 2 straight FG's well within your normal range.
Not sure how old you are, but back in the 70s, 80s and early 90s, there weren't very many bowl games and fans actually cared about them. Attendance was good and people watched them on TV. Then it seemed like every couple of years, 2-3 more games were added and it started getting ridiculous. Somewhere in there, the minimum requirement to be in a bowl became only 6 wins. I think the vacuum of having so many eligible teams helped cause the number of bowl games to explode. Hopefully someone else can put it all together coherently.
You obviously didn’t watch that game. The second half in particular. I’ve never seen a worse half in any bowl game. Ever.
Yeah I mean I wasn’t including the back in time days where writers just voted the national champion But in all seriousness yes I’m aware of all that but for basically the past 30 years there’s been plenty of bowl games and plenty of trash bowl games. That feels like “forever” to me.
Whatever dude has the bright yellow mouthpiece needs to either keep it in his mouth or pick a different color.
The trash bowl games are also programming for ESPN. They'll never cut down on them because they can charge for live event advertising instead of mid-afternoon First Take advertising.
Sure. But also, nobody is being forced to watch trash bowl games. I’ve never understood why people complain about it. It’s additional college football games available to those who want to watch. Most of the time, that’s just the fans of the respective teams playing. Complaining about it is super weird imo.
I generally agree, but I think one legit complaint is that it dilutes the good games. You often end up with ranked teams playing unranked teams because they are all so spread out, whereas you could have had two ranked teams playing each other if you consolidated them and got rid of the some of the crappier teams. That said, crappy bowl games come in all shapes and sizes, like the 60-3 Georgia / FSU game a few years ago between the #5 and #6 teams in the country.
