We made a trade, yay! From the novice eye test, I like what we saw from Cole better than Melton, so I'm alright with him going. I have to trust are pitching coach given his track record. Sounds like Burrows has promise.
Did Melton make that laying catch out in Right Field and slid into the wall mid season? That was a nasty catch. Good luck kid.
Nonsense. Just because they are rated highly in a weak system doesn’t make them anything special. A D+ grade for this trade is just silly.
I had Brito as our top pitching prospect post Fall league, he will certainly be missed. Melton was probably going to start 26 as the bench OFer on my roster but that was about all I expected of him. Burrows will be a mid rotation piece this season but Brito will outperform him in the long run. I would feel a lot better if we had gotten a short season position player as a toss in with Burrows.
They have never watched an Astros game, they just saw “ohhh 2nd best prospect!” Disregarding that our second best prospect is most teams 7th or 8th. i like the trade. I wanted melton to succeed do to the rare speed and power combination, but I wasn’t seeing much of that when he got the chance. I wish both Melton and Brito the best, and our trades involving pitchers usually means our pitching coaches see something in him that can move him from a late in the rotation starter to a 2-3. I hope I’m right. edit - Grades right after a trade has been made especially when there’s young talent involved is absolutely pointless and stupid
Burrow is pitcher with MLB experience. It is not a question of if he can pitch in the MLB but how well. Brito is a pitcher that dreams of MLB experience. He still has several large develop steps to take before he is MLB ready. Melton never dominated AAA and struggled hitting MLB pitching. He has a lot of work ahead himself to have a MLB career.
That's my only concern. I have no doubt about his ability. We have a history of torquing out arms, and he's already had TJS.
