With the CBA coming, i don't mind the trade. 1.5 projected war next year vs .2 . .. yeah, bye Melton. I love Brito, but his role is gonna be hard to figure out . . . starter, reliever . . . and it will be a minute for him to make the team.

Keep going and get a #2 Dana.

I like that Burrows has the years of control. Hopefully the lab can turn him into a machine

Let’s hope the pitching factory sees something in Burrows that makes him one of the next good Astros pitching acquisitions. Keep in mind Pittsburgh was pretty desperate for offense.

Last big trade we made with Pittsburgh worked out pretty well (Gerrit Cole)

The huge difference in Yordan and guys like Judge, Curry and others people want to throw out

The Skankees and Warriors looked at Judge and Curry as guys who they could without a doubt make lifetime players out of for their organization only

Dana Brown KNOWS that if Yordan throws up a couple of fully healthy seasons he has ZERO chance to sign long term

The chances of Yordan being traded are extremely low, like less than 1% which is about what it should be

But again, if someone calls you listen

What if the Red Sox think he is 100% the guy that can take them over the top

    Astros get: B Bello, P Tolle, R Anthony, J Duran, T Casas
Red Sox get: Yordan, J Meyers, Walker (Full Contract)

Now do I think the Sox would offer that, hell no, but saying ANY Yordan trade makes you a worse team for 26 simply isn't true.

I'm sure Burrows will be a stud until our methods of creating more spin break him like cheap glass

Nothing jumps out? His change up clearly is a plus plus pitch. It’s in the 97% on Savant. As you said, he has good velocity as well. That said, I’m assuming the Astros pitching lab has ideas how to work with that and produce better results. Garbage franchises like the Pirates are exactly the type of teams you want to target in trades like this. Just look what we did with Charlie and Cole.

Honestly won’t be surprised if we turn him into a #2.

I am not overly high on Melton, so i'm good with the deal

I just can't remember the last SP we brought in and made better that did NOT get a serious injury

We desperately need to bring in someone who is already good and doesn't need the extra spin we can teach him

Wow I’m sold already…he managed to make Kurtz look like a b****. Didn’t think that was possible watching him against our staff.

Brito can't throw strikes consisntently. I think his performance in the AFL changed the Astros perception on him from starter to reliever and made him available. The Rays love toolsy OFs like Melton, but they haven't really ever developed them into anything other than a season here or there.

Prospects are 50/50. Talk to Forrest. I’m liking Burrows mix and the WAR. Brito can be excellent or hit a wall.

Well I see how that change is in the 97% on Savant. Absolute filth.

You keep framing this argument as if people are saying that there is no way that trading Yordan could improve the Astros, and at least for me that isn’t what I am arguing. I am responding to you since I am the one who brought up the Judge comparison.

My initial post comparing Yordan to Judge was made in response to someone saying/implying (although they have since retracted it I believe) that Yordan’s best years were behind him due to his injuries. I brought up Judge to counter that since he similarly went through a few seasons of injuries and is now the best hitter in baseball.

From that standpoint the Judge and even Curry comparisons are valid, regardless of what the Astros choose to do with Yordan in the future.

Who knows how Kikuchi would have fared if he stayed here, but he managed fine. Gerrit Cole managed just fine. Greinke didn't have any issues. Morton actually got healthier. Verlander managed 3 years of it before getting injured. Those were all decent/good in different ways already, but the Astros made significant changes and made them way better.

The Astros' biggest problems seem to have been with pitchers they developed from the start in the minors.
