If you were playing passing-league summer football and had only 2 linemen that might be understandable
Last year Tunsil had 12 false start and the next highest totals belong to Kenyon Green and Scrugg who each had 2 everyone else had 1 It seems Tunsil was the only one having trouble with a center.
Tunsil made sure to let everyone else on the O-line know, they were not in his caliber. Tunsil is about Tunsil and team success be dammed. I think how the Texans are addressing their OL this year is better for the line as a whole. Instead of constantly being reminded that they don’t deserve to breathe the same air as Tunsil (by Tunsil), the OL looks like a functional OL in the NFL. We can now see which players have a future going forward, and which will need to be upgraded. And the OL is middle of the road, which is better than where it’s been in years.
Everyone knew he was a great LT when blocking... If he had his head out of his ass maybe we don't trade him?
Tunsil is a favorite of the NFL brass. They absolutely love him! He’s been a stalwart for all pro LT for years. But I don’t know how he makes OL better with him. The Texans shipped him out, and they improved by leaps and bounds. The Texans currently line need more OL talent, but they are playing as good as they can with the personnel they have. Nevertheless a few guys look to be forming part of what is looking to become something special. Did Tunsil elevate the Washington OL? I ask because I don’t know, yet the Commanders went from a playoff team to a 3 win team. Doesn’t seem adding Jeremy was going to catapult them into contender status.
Tunsil is good. We traded him for a few reasons. He was going to want a lot of money that we could not afford with the upcoming WAJ and CJ contracts. He is not very good at run blocking. He wasn’t big into practicing and off-season programs. We got a decent return for someone we weren’t going to re-sign.
Yeah the Texans got rid of 4 OL starters, 2 which are out of the NFL. Daniels being hurt most of the yr may have something to do with the Redskins record.
No excuses, that game the refs were obviously calling the game differently than the rest. It might just be me but I dont consider a 5 yd penalty or 2 a game to be that big of a deal.
Agree to disagree. All pro players are worth more than Caserio got for Tunsil. They're the elite level players and to not get at least a 1st for Tunsil made the deal below avg IMHO.
And yet it was only Tunsil that kept doing it. it's 100% making excuses for a guy who has always been a penalty waiting to happen blaming it on the refs....especially when talking about false start penalties. It's just a thing Tunsil does because he lost a step that season and was looking for an edge to not get beat. It's okay to admit that. This was a contract year....his last contract year, so he probably showed up in better shape and put a hell of a lot more effort into his performance than he did his final season here.
Maybe, I really don’t know. I think it was pretty common knowledge that the Texans were unhappy with him and that he wanted another big pay day. He’s getting kind of long in the tooth, so I’m not sure if there was a 1st to be had. In either case, I think Ersery will end up our starter for a long time to come and will eventually become a better run blocker, something Tunsil did not do well. We need more hosses up front to help with the running game.
That game was HILARIOUS. Most likely there was something going on gambling wise because what the refs did in that game was so far out of the bounds of reality that it's impossible it was on the up and up.
Ok, he had a bad game and everything was on the up and up. I can live with one bad game a yr, apparently you cant and I hope you hold every OL on the Texans to that standard. If you do then Howard must really suck. BTW, players dont lose a step and then that step magically regain not only that step, but 2 steps so they can become an all pro level player. Name another player that has been healthy that this happened with?
Even if you erase that game, which you can't, he'd still lead the team in penalties. It wasn't "one bad game", it was Tunsil ****ing the Texans offense killing drives all season.
Tunsil was the least of the OL's problems. If a 5 yd penalty kills your offense then you didn't have much of an offense to begin with. I would say Green/Mason who are out of the NFL and Scruggs who will be out soon enough were much bigger problems. But hey it's much easier to just blame all of the issues on Tunsil. Meanwhile Tunsil will probably be named All Pro this year. BTW, I never did get the name of your player that lost a step and became an All Pro with his new team the next year. I'll patiently wait for your answer.
