I'm not as religious as my Irish Wife, but I go at least once a month.
I grew up Episcopalian but did a year long Catholic conversion class.
I learned a lot of wonderful stuff.
How much is practical in today's society is debatable.

But I always feel better after going and I always pray for the Texans after family, friends.

I admire your conviction to your principles and suspect you are an admirable member of your church and community.

But I do think you would draw more honest conversations with folks on here if you did not do a one-day dump of all your thoughts and criticisms of others.

If anyone thinks they will save anyone on this board, they are sadly mistaken.

I myself spend a lot of my time doing charity work for those who cannot sow bountifully.
I would hope you do the same.

When I volunteer, I do not ask their nationality, economic status, or education level.
Selfishly I volunteer to make myself feel better, but that's me.

Religion has convinced people that there's an invisible man ... living in the sky. Who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer, and suffer, and burn, and scream, until the end of time. Something is wrong. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, crime, torture, corruption and the ice capades. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed. And for those of you who look to The Bible for moral lessons and literary qualities, I might suggest a couple of other stories for you. You might want to look at the Three Little Pigs, that’s a good one. Has a nice happy ending, I’m sure you’ll like that. Then there’s Little Red Riding Hood, although it does have that X-rated part where the Big Bad Wolf actually eats the grandmother. Which I didn’t care for, by the way. And finally, I’ve always drawn a great deal of moral comfort from Humpty Dumpty. The part I like the best? “All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again.” That’s because there is no Humpty Dumpty, and there is no God. None, not one, no God, never was.

My wife the hardcore Catholic has always told me the Bible is the greatest work of fiction ever printed.
She goes to church every Sunday or Saturday evening. she has always told me she goes for self-reflection and the good feeling she gets as a result.
No more no less.
