Yep, and draft a RT, Brown is long in the tooth. Ioane/sign Cade Mays in FA and draft Chaplin OT from Auburn in the 2nd rd.
I'm looking at a niche player in Demetrious Crownover from Texas A&M. If we are making the heavy front part of our offense, he might make a great heavy utility guy since he also has TE and DE experience in HS. When he's in heavy, he would be a legitimate threat as a receiver and toughness from his defensive experience. He would sort of fit in as a utility role where you never know where a need will arise. And this is just for 26. It give him a role while we see if he can ultimately replace Brown at RT. The key is to figure out if his utility is driven from being good everywhere or from not being quite good enough anywhere.
Kadyn Proctor OT Alabama Height: 6 - 6 | Weight: 369 lbs | RAS: N/A Kadyn Proctor is a mammoth left tackle, and the next in a long line of Alabama blockers who've made the NFL leap. At 6'6", 369 pounds, Proctor is a true outlier who plays with domineering size and power. His hand power and torque can be overwhelming for solo defenders, and his anchor can be suffocating against opposing power rushes. Naturally, Proctor doesn't have elite range, mobility, or flexibility, and he could stand to trim down his weight at the professional level. That said, he does flash inspiring foot speed for his size, and he's technically sound for his age, with smooth and efficient footwork, and a strong sense of timing and precision as a hand fighter. His future could be at left tackle, right tackle, or guard, but at each spot, he could be at the very least a quality starter. This is his write up in the simulator. I'd like to know what the "BAMA FAN BASE" beef is with him. I'm intrigued with POWER which includes mass which he possesses. I'm just looking for OL that can move big people forward on runs and keep big people from pushing the line backwards on passes and RPOs. I don't understand the NFL's obsession with giving the defense a key by restricting OL from playing a run and an RPO the same by penalizing linemen for being illegally down field when they are merely simulating a run.
Want to solve the Texans short yardage issues. Draft this guy and line him up at LG next to Ersery and draft Oscar Delp/ Cody Hardy in the 4th. Imagine having Ersery/Proctor/Trent Brown and drafting Xavier Chaplin in the 2nd rd. That's a lot of beef up front and would solve a lot of the Texans offenses issues.
I like the beef, but on the clips I've seen, about half the time his hands are outside of the shoulders and would likely be called holding in the NFL. We would have to see if this is fixable. The problem with highlight reals is you don't see growth because the clips aren't always in sequence.
Good knee bend required for tall interior linemen. Most of the best guard prospects are OTs in college with shorter than optimal size. Three on my list like that are Francis Mauigoa, Kadyn Proctor and Austin Siereveld who performed well enough as OT in College, but might be better at G in the pros. Another is Iapani Laloulu who might move from OC to G or allow Jake Andrews to move to G. I'd love to find out if they could work together with both being high IQ communicators.Purely from a mass/size perspective, I like my centers short, stout and smart and Andrews might have a little more range for pulling.
In my opinion, if Love is available at our pick, we should take him. Trade up if we need to get an OL in the first found. Hell, maybe trade up for Love. A running back like him will have a rippling effect on entire offensive team including Stroud, who we are going to be forced to pay.
There are so many questions around Proctor that he scares the hell out of me as a 1st/early-2nd rounder. He may be great, he may be a total bust. Texans need a sure thing Day1 starter (or as close as you can get to one in the draft) if they're taking OL that early.
Love is going top 12...if he's there when the Texans draft, that means he probably had some hidden injury or has a warrant for him.
Probably, but maybe trade up? I’m usually not a fan of drafting RB’s in the first, but I think this team really needs an impact player at the position. Woody and Love would make for a great tandem and I think it would also elevate CJ.
Not sure I'd do it, or how the draft board shakes out, or what it would take, but we have our top 4 picks next year and, thanks to the Giants and Washington sucking, currently this year #22/37/53/66/108/121. This will be a very, very interesting draft.
None of the top TE I've seen are complete players, they're great receivers who can't block for **** yet (Sadiq, Klare, Royer, Stowers, Delp...)
The Penn St Guard and pretty good PFF rankings supposedly. Especially in Pass Pro. I have not seen many Penn St games this year but I know Oregon broke them and they kind of quit till the Indiana game. Doesn’t matter though cuz he’ll be gone when we pick at 32.
I think Sadiq disappears at times. He's also a bit short and underweight and gets bullied while trying to block and drops too many passes. I don't think he's worth a first-round pick.
