Incumbent Cornyn v Paxton v Hunt in the Republican primary.

Allread's out, so it Talarico v Crockett in the Democratic primary.

Who do you have making it to November?

Very excited that Jasmine Crockett is running! Finally reparations for slaves can be passed into law!
(actually only black slaves in America from 1619-1865 - no other slaves globally in any other historical time period qualify)

Why would we do it for slaves outside of the US?

Exactly -- we will focus on ONLY American slaves, ONLY black slaves, and ONLY black American slaves from the time period of 1619 through 1865. And this will restore equity in America and put all races on a trajectory to succeed equally.

Additionally, Representative Crockett beautifully articulates another proposal that I think we need to seriously consider - a proposal I call "no tax on blacks."

Jasmine Crockett, a freshman representative from Texas, said she heard a celebrity — though she could not remember which one — propose making black people tax-exempt, and thought, “I don’t know that that’s … necessarily a bad idea,” she recounted in an interview with “The Black Lawyers Podcast” last week.

“One of the things they propose is black folk not have to pay taxes for a certain amount of time because … that puts money back in your pocket,” Crockett told host J. Carter.

    GOOD DAY

I'd rather see the devil I know in Cornyn than have to deal with showboating morally flexible Ken Paxton who bought his way out of a felony and good-ol-boy'ed his way out of being impeached. Ken Paxton is a slime ball who would be doing hard time if he didn't wrap himself in the Republican Party flag. I have an inkling that when Cornyn does something slimy he probably feels like a slime ball, while Ken Paxton just calls it "winning".

...all of which probably means Ken Paxton is going to win.

As is usual in statewide elections in Texas, Dems remain irrelevant.

I don't live in Texas anymore but I will say Crocket knows how to kill proper English.
It's hard for me to listen to her. She sounds like someone screaming at her phone on speaker in a Wal Mart.

I know nothing about her other than that.

polling from back in October has Paxton +2 over Crockett and +3 over Talarico

Cornyn +6 over Crockett and +3 over Talarico

Hunt +5 over Crockett and +6 over Talarico

I think Talarico has a better chance because aside from Jasmine Crockett being a black woman, she is also very polarizing and hated by republicans…she is 1 of the most recognizable Dems in Congress, and while that will drive up Dem turnout in TX, republicans will also be highly motivated to vote against her

Talarico is a progressive pastor with an unassuming personality who doesn’t generate extreme emotions in either direction

This Tribune article points to those concerns, and that's my view as well. She might bring some people out, but she's divisive in the eyes of many Texas voters. I'm not really sure Talarico generates enough enthusiasm to overcome Cornyn or maybe even Paxton.

Talarico vs Cornyn. Crockett doesn't have a chance to win (but may win the primary). Paxton is an awful human, so Talarico vs Paxton would be a disastrous contrast for Republicans. Talarico has a small chance vs Cornyn. He may get enough Hispanic and independent votes to push him across the finish line. That's probably hopium on my part though.

Democrats have had some good young candidates come out of the woodwork lately that aren't corporate shills. I think the next governor of Iowa will be a Democrat.

Dems got to find someone with some charisma. Current candidates not very exciting to me. I will vote for them, but we need someone very dynamic.

I'd vote for a 92 year old Willie Nelson any day over these candidates. He epitomizes Texan. I wouldn't care if he got stoned daily, because at least he truly cares about Texans. farmers, and the blue collar Texans.

Paxton is possibly the most corrupt state-level politician in America, so uh, Cornyn is an easy pick.

Jasmine Crockett is aggressively stupid so I will be pulling for Talarico, but it's ultimately meaningless.

The best outcome you can hope for Democrats is that this race ends up being a starting point for an ultimate push into the Governorship in 2030.

LOL I didn't even know Crockett is from TX and I'm in TX.

Talarico for sure. Crockett, just because of her sex and skin color, is at a disadvantage in a state wide TX run. On top of that, I find her political style quite annoying.

How does her sex and skin color put her at a disadvantage in TX?

Crockett is a terrible general election candidate. The democratic establishment putting her on a pedestal is so silly.

I don't think the other D can win either.

Texas is reliably Red. There was a brief dent in the armor because of external factors, Ted Cruz being extremely unlikable and Beto having a moment. That moment passed and we're back to where we were.
