Picked up the new Tesla 3 Premium a couple weeks ago, absolutely love it. The FSD is insane, I've only had to disengage it a couple of times around construction areas, and even with that the FSD was able to maneuver around most construction areas without me having to intervene. The tech is so advanced I feel like I'm in a Flintstone car when we're in my wife's SUV.

I've been a full size truck guy for decades, and I still have and enjoy my Tundra, but I didn't like that the newer Tundras don't have V8s.

With the price point of Model 3, plus I have access to free charging at work...a free-fueled, pretty damn cheap car with insanely cool and advanced tech, it was a no brainer.

FSD 14.2.1 (on my wife's 2026is insane and apparently does not include the 10x parameter increase which will come in Jan or Feb.
Everyone that has FSD 14.2.1 knows and apparently the 10x parameter increase has not even happened yet. That will come in Jan/Feb.

how do you feel about road trips? that's my main concern. for driving around town, I agree, it feels like a no brainer.

As someone who doesn't like being hassled by routine, the Model Y has been great. No gas stations. No fluid changes. No brake changes. The software updates are very nice.

FSD is on a different level. Each iteration gets a little better. Depending on traffic conditions, you can now use your phone. It was always irritating that I had to shut off FSD to use my phone, which greatly raised my risk for an accident.

When comparing the tech stack to a standard ICE vehicle, its vastly different. I do not understand why people want this technology to fail simply based on emotional responses.

I'm starting out with the insurance offered through Tesla, it's dynamic pricing based on how well or poor you drive, but my baseline rate is about $140/month, that's with me choosing high deductible/lower coverage. Apparently the more you use FSD the lower your rate will go, I guess it's an incentive to purchase FSD. I will shop rates outside of Tesla with my insurance guy next month.

Counter-intuitive as hell, but I'd still use my Tundra for road trips. It's big, it's comfy, it holds a lot of luggage. and I can fill up anywhere...poor gas mileage be damned

Ive made one 8-hour trip on FSD. Usually after 4 hours of driving, Im mentally drained. With FSD, I was not drained at all. Mostly I was bored because you can't do much while driving except look at scenery, however it beats staring at the road hours upon hours.

i will concede to the fact that taking a 30 minute break every 2 hours is very conducive to the overall drivung experience, even if it adds 2 hours

thanks, just trying to gauge the experience, as it were. so, an 8 hour drive is really a 10 hour trip? no judgments, just looking for clarity.

    Absolutely meaningless statement.

    Let's look at the facts

    Waymo
-already providing rides right now. Expanding rapidly
-proven safety record (despite cherry picked videos)
    -trustworthy company
-backed by Google (this is huge) which has unlimited money, has started to dominate AI (Gemini 3), has the most advanced technology

    Or

    Tesla
    -car sales plummeting
    -ceo is addicted to drugs
    -repeatedly misses his own deadlines
-same ceo that ran X Twitter into the ground
    -toxic brand across the world
-getting owned by Chinese ev companies

    I could keep going

Seems like Waymo has gone full autonomous in Houston. So if y'all want to experience real autonomous taxis (not imaginary ones from Tesla), you know what to do

Another one of those brave posts at the wrong time. Do you still have your shorts at the bottom?

    I don't know a James.

I did ask you though since you seem to know everything.
Maybe I am mistaken and you just post tweets that fit your narrative.
