If someone figured out the Jags-Texans tie-breaker if Houston wins out (certainly likely given schedule) & Jags finish 3-1 (loss at Broncos), let me know. I know we would be tied in record v division, we’d have the edge in record vs conference, but I’m not sure about the “record vs common opponents” tiebreaker
A couple of thoughts after last night’s game: The offensive line is still an abomination, but CJ and the receivers made enough plays for the Texans to beat the Chiefs. Texans are still going to need an offensive line overhaul in the offseason, and I think a deep run in the playoffs this season is unlikely with CJ constantly under pressure. A coaching staff that seems incapable of proper clock management is always concerning. It’s an ongoing problem and it’s not getting fixed. It makes our coaches look dumb.
Nico looked slow on that backyard football play down the field in the first half. I wonder if he is nursing something? We didn't get much from him after this.
I don't know how they calculate the common opponents tie-breaker. I will endeavor to show 2 ways (with and without division opponents) and post them as an edit or reply. Common Opponents in the division: Colts x 2, Titans x 2. we'll both be 4-0 Jaguars will be 5-1 and Texans will be 5-1 including H/H Common Opponents outside the division: (NFC) LAR, SEA, SF (AFC) KC, ARI, LV, LAC AND DEN. We would both be 5-3 overall and 1-2 vs NFC and 4-1 vs AFC Jaguars and Texans will be tied vs common opponents IF the JAGS only lose to Denver and HOU wins out. Bottom line - Under this scenario, we have to go to the next tie-breaker.
Do the Texans have the best defense that are mostly comprised of nice guys? I feel like Lassiter is the only crazy on the defense (not even that crazy) maybe pitre?. compare them to other all time defenses like the ravens and seahawks who had some real lunatics.
Honestly, he'd probably do pretty well there... much like he was able to put up numbers (and some wins) in Cincy on short notice. Indy has viable offensive weapons, a serviceable line, and an offensive-centric HC. They don't have any future first round picks coming up thanks to the push-all-chips-in trade for Gardner, so they'll be desperate enough to do anything to try and salvage this season.
I've looked at the remaining schedules. I believe that we will finish 12-5 or 11-6. We might still win the division and if we do we should be the #3 seed. Otherwise I believe we will be the #5 seed as a wildcard and would likely play at Pittsburgh in round 1. If we win then we're at (probably) New England or Denver. Ladies and gentlemen, I think we're good enough to win the conference. You folks up for a Super Bowl?
Some PFF grades. CJ missed on a couple of wide-open receivers but he also made some incredible long completions while under immense pressure. CJ did a great job of not taking unnecessary sacks and, most importantly, didn't turn it over. CJ's grade is low but I think he played alright considering the constant pressure he faced and, at times, having nobody open to throw the ball to. At the other end of the spectrum Ed Ingram had a HORRIFIC night. Ersery was also terrible. Through the draft or free agency, Caserio MUST get serious about the OL after this season. I don't want to hear that the players are fine and that a new scheme will fix everything. We need talent!
