I'd be good with 6 instead of 7, sure. Otherwise, I have no issue with the defense getting tagged for the TD or FG because the defense played a rolein giving up the TD or FG. But it has no impact on punt of kick returns. In fact, forcing a punt is a *good* thing, and the defense's primary job, and it's silly to punish the defense for a completely separate unit not doing their jobs

You say? Meet the Nilgai, colloquially known as Blue Bull in South Texas:

PAT maybe not, but FG I think you have to count.

They're originally from India or somewhere around there and were introduced here many years ago. Now they run wild-ish. They're in the antelope family, iirc, but are ****ing huge.

I read up on them after your post.. This is an example of an introduced species with excellent results. I love managed populations. I'd love to get some of the leather for my son who has made leather craft a hobby, most being used for equipment for fire-fighters because the typical holders made from fake leather doesn't hold up well.

Ravens had an insane defense. They won a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer

With Super Bowl hopes starting to rise, I'm still having a hard time believing in this team due to offensive playcalling/coaching. The botched end of halves the last two games are especially concerning. When you don't have a prolific offense, you have to do everything you can to squeeze out points.

Was thinking last night about the other elite defenses that carried teams to Super Bowl wins the last 15 years.

    2012 Seahawks - 4th ranked rushing offense, 26th passing
The perfect compliment to an elite defense = a great running game. Which we don't have.

    2015 Broncos - 17th rushing, 14th passing
This gives me a little hope, except if you look closely this Broncos team ran the ball really well in the 2nd half of the season and well enough in the playoffs. QB play was poor. But our defense resembles this one IMO.

    2025 Texans - 23rd rushing, 17th passing

I think we need to find another blueprint on offense, something that gives CJ quick hits on early downs and pass to setup the run. If we keep going like we are going, you're relying on him to make ridiculous plays on 3rd and long.

I was skeptical when @Marshall Bryant started this thread, because "Generational Defense" to me has to be earned with years of winning. The comeback our team has made this year, combined with Demeco's first two years of success has me thinking we could be on the precipice of this type of defense. Kudos for MB having the vision to start this thread, let's see how it plays out over the next few years.
