Yes Reed should stay in front to his man more but the help defense on this team is nonexistent. Doesn’t matter if it’s Reed or Holiday getting blown by, help ain’t coming. So Emu telling Reed to make his man move side to side and wait for the help is stupid.

I like Reed a lot and according to Statmuse he's 44.6% on catch and shoot threes this year. Unfortunately, he can't catch and shoot off of his own passes. There's no shame in being a little guy off ball. Brining in someone to just move the ball around a little helps set everyone else in their natural positions and will make the offense much smoother.

I think the Celtics having a good season has ruled out Derrick White and Payton Pritchard, if that was ever even a remote possibility.

Bill Simmons mentioned Ayo Dosunmu who's making $7.5 million this season and quietly much improved. He's 49% on 4 attempts a game which is obviously great. Then there's Jose Alvarado.

Agree with this 100%. But Reed does need to work on his on-ball defense and not get blown by every time he gets on an island. FVV needs to show him how to stay in front so that our defense doesn't get collapsed every time Reed is targeted.

Ime probably wants to prioritize winning especially with KD's age and the western conference being historically stacked this year.

I think what people are missing is that Amen is exerting more energy on the offensive end, than in his previous two yrs. And he's learning to pick his spots; when to play hard and when not to.

I don’t think he was prioritizing winning yesterday.

Just make a small move a week from now for a guy who won't mind coming off the bench. Jose Alvarado would be ideal

We need to be more worried about amen. He's going to cost us a playoff series if anything. Theyll just leave him open and dare him to shoot every time

We simply aren't going to give players minutes to figure it out. Does Ime give chances? Absolutely, but you have to meet expectations.

I doubt we make a major move but something dennis schroder level.

Was he terrible with that three-turnover stretch? Yes. But some of you people keep focusing on a rare bad mistakes moment this season. He has not been doing many stupid things on offense other than passing up some good shots.

Look at the A/TO ratios of our four main playmakers:
    Sengun: 2.15
    Amen: 1.89
    Durant: 1.39
    Reed: 2.54

He is actually the best in terms of not losing the ball with a lot of ball handling and passing.

Don’t speak facts, that 2 minute sequence was what lost us the game. Reed went to the r mavs and told them they could get layup drills all night long even after he went to the bench

Holiday deserves his minutes, this guy isn’t going to develop. It’s not like he has played well 70%+ if the time thus far

A good point, but he's also the worst of the three young playmakers in generating assists on a per minute and per possession basis. Some of this likely has to do with the way he is being used, but my eye test tells me that's he's also mostly passing around the perimeter, not sucking in the defense and making highly difficult passes through traffic.

I agree with this for last night, but honestly i think for most of the games he has gotten guys great looks with good court vision. The worst court vision is amen, but he also has better handles

Anyways it is what it is. I hope Udoka changes his strategy because it isn’t working.

Agree to a certain extent. I think this has something to do with how he's used. It also has something to do with him learning the game.

But he probably has the best court vision maybe only a close second to Sengun. When he gets more experience, he will be one of our primary playmakers.

@Will in his "report card" thread believes that he is the best on our roster.

Amen doesn't have Sengun's and Reed's court vision. But Amen's advantage is his hang time and fast processing speed. He often jump before scanning the court for bailout and be successful simply because he has those talents.

Yeah, I love Reed's court vision compared to any of our other guards, including Fred, but it's very hard to compare Reed vs. Alpi, since they're operating from different positions. And I suspect that's the answer to @OremLK's stat: As he (I think) implies, Reed is delivering his passes, on average, from much further out than Alpi and Amen are, so the resulting shots are less likely to score, which depresses his assist rate. Ideally you'd like Reed to deliver more passes from the interior for easy buckets. But (just going by visual recollection) I think that's where a lot of his turnovers happen. He doesn't have experience navigating the interior of an NBA defense the way Fred does. And Reed's handle is still very iffy.

My impression from watching Reed so far is that he's a good learner and has a natural mental (not physical) talent for navigating space on the court. But that's distinct from (a) experience in understanding exactly where you can squeeze a pass to your guy within an NBA defense and (b) developing a sufficiently good handle to execute these maneuvers without losing the ball. He can definitely solve the (a) part if Ime gives him more minutes. But the (b) part, I don't think we can say yet that he'll definitely get there. I sure hope so.

Shooting 43-44% from 3 was not sustainable. Ime was riding a wave of efficiency.
