The Texans need to hope this isn't a one score game, unless it's a late come from behind score to win with no time left on the clock. The ball in Mahomes' hands when it really matters is not a fun thing to have to worry about.
I feel like players who play when they shouldn't can do more harm than their replacements. I guess it depends on how bad they're really hurt.
Texans have dominated the matchups against teams they should beat. This is another one. KC is getting a ton of grace due to its past, but the team is 6-6. They do not get pressure without blitzing and after watching Hou's ability to pick up blitzes against Indy. You should really like this teams chances if they mix it up well on 1st and 2nd down. Hoping they are pass heavy early.
At this point, it feels like every Texans game will be close regardless of the opponent. It’s just a matter of whether or not they win or lose the close game. If the offense could somehow evolve to a little better than average, that’s the formula for possibly making this season special because the AFC, really the entire NFL, is far more wide open than usual this season
If it's 8 points, you get to typical definitions of one score games with a TD and 2 point conversion. This is how they get to all our losses being 1 score games. But you know that and like redefining it. That's OK since I like doing that too.
We all do it. Shoot, there are fans in here still talking about Dougy Mills and when I post stats like this they get irrationally upset. Eye test trumps all in this league. I’ve seen Matt Stafford throw for 20-10 on the year and players in the league call him a top 3 QB in the NFL.
I'm pumped for this game. It will tell us everything we need to know about this team. There's no gray area, really. You win and you've climbed a level in the AFC. You lose,.and you're still pretending. I'm a little bit worried about the zebras, but this is a game that really matters to both teams. You can't understand that. This team has to go out and take care of business and show the world they are who we thought they were before the season, or else they need to sit down and figure it out for next season. If you can do what you did to Josh Allen, to Mahomes, in front of a national audience, now you'll validate the hype on defense. Then it's just a matter of figuring out how to score touchdowns on offense. If you can figure that out, thenskys the limit. This is one of the biggest regular season games this team has played in a loooong time. I'm so used to getting blown out in these huge primetime games. I hope the shoe can finally be on the other foot for once.
Why I'm routing for the Colts. We are one game behind both the Jags and the Colts and the Jags have the easier remaining schedule and we split with them. If my calculations are correct, we'd have all tie-breakers if the Colts can give the Jags a second division loss and we can give the Colts a second division loss. So we'd control our own destiny with a single game loss by the Colts to match their record (other than our final match-up) with their rough remaining schedule by winning the division tie-breakers.
I consider a 2pt conversion a score, since it's an actual offensive play, unlike a PAT, so thus 8 points is a 2 score game. You can disagree with me but you'll still be wrong
I understand the thought since the defensive unit is on the field for a two point conversion instead of special teams. It just depends on how much needing another possession counts (rather than a free play) in your definition of possession. It's really more of a choice than a right/wrong matter.
