I decided to build a 26 man, all quarter-century Astros team. 13 position players including 2 catchers and a backup for each position (had to have played at least 5 games). 1500 PAs to be eligible. Ranked all 32 qualifiers 1-32 in: WAR, wRC+, XBH, WPA, wOBA, SB, and fangraphs DEF. and added totals. C) Castro and Diaz 1b) Bagwell 2b) Altuve 3b) Bregman SS) Correa LF) Berkman CF) Springer RF) Tucker Bench) Hidalgo, Pence, and Pena. 13 pitchers. 5 starters and 7 relievers with at least 1 of each a lefty. 1 swing man or #6 starters. 60 games started or 150 games in relief to qualify. SP) I used GS, QS, WAR, K/9, ERA, WHIP, and FIP RP) games, SV, HLD, K/9, LOB%, and FIP SP) Verlander, Oswalt, Clemens, Framber, McCullers. RP) Dotel, Abreu, Lidge, Wagner, Pressly, Harris, Qualify #6/swing) Keuchel Through 6 catagories, Lance and Keuchel were tied for the #5 spot but Lance's FIP gave him the spot
I know these are based on stats, but Keuchel would get it over the injuries to LMJ alone. And how is Hidalgo in there over Yordan? Cringe worthy. Now make one for the quarter century all tank team
Nice catch. I had it filtered through innings not starts and missed him. That would bump him to #6/swing and bump Keuchel off the team.
