    There’s definitely an argument.
He isn’t better than Goff or Hurts-at all. Like not even close.
    The others I could see

If you look only at stats and ignore all context (those 2 playing on basically superteams, and goff as soon as he's on just a very good team is crap) i can definitely see how you could say he's not better then those 2, as silly as it is.

Objectively he’s just not better. There is nothing that backs that up.
Goff is a realistic upside comp for Stroud.
Hurts doesn’t have the arm strength CJ has but is a much better athlete.

If you ask who I would take, it’s CJ due to age.
But he isn’t remotely better than either of those two.

Also, we’re comparing CJs potential contract to some of the worst contracts in the league. What’s that say?

It’s just the going rate for qbs. Either trade him or pay him, I would pay him in a heartbeat. Hurts better than stroud is wild to say though, hard to believe someone not related to hurts would actually think that, and i think usually you’re pretty reasonable so it’s weird to see.

    I think production matters.
It’s very easy to say they have super teams around them.
So did the Vikings and they haven’t performed.

CJ has regressed from his rookie year, but he’s still shown flashes of that accuracy and anticipation that can make him an upper tier QB.
Unfortunately there just isn’t much else to his game if those two attributes are inconsistent, being an average athlete.

I don’t think hurts is horrendous, he’s an ok starter. Solidly average, but nothing close to stroud. He will never come close to rookie stroud or even stroud now, and that’s despite having the best roster possible. You can’t just pretend the other players don’t matter.

I can respect your opinion. Just hard for me to see it.
Stroud is very average currently as well.

I think where football differs from basketball is in basketball if you're a star, your stats won't change much regardless if you're on a good or bad team. What will change is your wins. Jokic on the wizards puts up 30/12/11 and wins 40 games, Jokic on the rockets in place of sengun still puts up 30/12/11 but wins 70 games. Football if you're on a terrible team your stats get crushed (look at mahomes these days).

Jalen Hurts is not an above average QB, he's a below average QB in a great situation

Jalen is a winner tho and a leader imo. Not a great distributor of the rock to be sure, but give the guy a break…

Dude won a CFB Championship and a Super Bowl (MVP), what can we really say otherwise?
