It feels pretty good for the majority of them since they voted for him. But not for the poor guy who can't get past labels.

Hey, maybe once some of those cops leave the rest will only shoot people 54 times and then pin the crime on other innocent people?

Holding up NYCPD as some sort of gold standard is something I don't want.

Keep your ultraviolent idiots out of Texas, we have enough.

If it’s even real. With AI-generated videos now so convincing that you can’t tell what’s fake anymore, it’s foolish to believe anything you see about politics on social media.

Pitino is, and has always been, a complete piece of ****.

This has nothing really to do with his politics.

Not mentioned much, but it seems Democrats had a good day in North Carolina as they swept all major municipal races and picked up over 150 local seats statewide.

Democrats also did well in South Carolina local races, including flipping all three city council seats in Georgetown.

In Florida, it was a similar story and they beat the last remaining Republican on the Orlando city council.

The geeky stat folks say Democrats as whole overperformed previous margins by an average of 14%.

The last number is why I think you'll see red state efforts to redistrict grind to a halt. GOP incumbents will use every lever possible to not drop from a +20 district to a + 5 district if they fear that 14% will be anywhere near what Democrats will get in 2026. And the way things are going, that 14% is looking low. Wrecking the country to protect a pedophile is not a winning message.

People should have a positive view of anything Rick Pitino says?

    @Sajan

    https://nypost.com/2025/11/08/us-ne...ti-cop-zohran-mamdani-prepares-to-take-reins/

The NYPD saw a 35% hike in cops of all ranks leaving in October – 245 police officers compared to 181 in the same month last year, according to Police Pension Fund data.

“Morale is down because everyone is concerned about the policies Mamdani wants to put in place,” said Detectives Endowment Association President Scott Munro.

“You have a person who is supposed to be running New York City that does not believe in law enforcement,” said Munro, a police officer for more than three decades. “What’s coming out of everyone’s mouth is, ‘We’re in trouble.’”

Whether more cops leave in the coming months will depend on the “Tisch factor,” a police union source said.

“If she leaves it may result in an uptick,” the source said. “If she stays, maybe not.”

The Police Benevolent Association, which will have to negotiate a new contract with Mamdani, bemoaned that the number of cops leaving could get worse.

“Every single month, we’re losing enough cops to staff an entire precinct,” PBA President Patrick Hendry said.

the next important election to keep an eye on

election day is on Dec 2nd

the Dem candidate is running on affordability and immigrants not being the reason grocery prices are skyrocketing and Tennessee farmers have been devastated while the MAGA is running in support of tariffs, ICE raids, and talking about trans peeing and pooping in the bathroom

we’ll see how this election goes in a Trump +22 district

It will be very interesting to see if anyone distances themselves from the Donald the more the indications show that the voters are souring on this administration.
This special election is more telling than the elections that happened in November to me. Those were more in line with the voting demographics of the area. This special election should not be close Given the past results in the area.
Problem is you break from the Donald you get a contested primary. Pick your poison. It's a shame so many lemming elected officials fall in line for fear of being on the outs with a vindictive man.

Maybe the candidates could do the right thing and worry about contested or uncontested primaries when they happen.

    > 95% of the vote is in for the Tennessee election

the Dem candidate will end up losing by about 9 points

so in 1 year, there was a 13 point swing to the Democrats from +22 to +9

I wouldn't call her really bad. It's hard to judge these things. Nashville turnout was where it needed to be (with huge reversions among minorities and younger voters). Those are signs of a good candidate. She even got a 6-7 point swing leftwards in the rurals. Her problem was actually in the suburbs. The Nashville suburbs in Williamson County are a huge anomaly and haven't had the huge leftward swing that other suburbs have had. You could argue that was a weakness of her candidacy but this has been a problem there long before this election.

If anything, the problem was simply that the race was nationalized at the end. The turnout today was essentially the same as the 2022 midterm. That's ridiculous turnout for a December special election. The flood of money from both sides in the end really saved the Republicans here as it got their turnout numbers to where they needed to be. This is the same reason why in the Florida special elections, FL-01 ended up being a much bigger over performance than FL-06. FL-01 was written off by both parties so no one really spent money there and the quiet nature of that race really benefited Democrats (given that Dems now have the highest propensity voters). FL-01 had a 17 point overperformance while FL-06 had a 10 point over performance. The primary difference was that FL-06 was a nationalized race with tons of money spent while FL-06 saw none of that.

Shows how polling isn’t that great of an indicator and that people who lean a certain way will hide their true biases because they’re ashamed. We saw it in 2024.

Still, as you point out, it’s a big swing in a very red state full of blue collar people who should really all vote blue.
