Amen should be paid at least close to Alpi. Alpi and Amen are the future 1a 1b. https://www.nba.com/stats/players/traditional?CF=TEAM_ABBREVIATION*E*HOU&dir=A&sort=PLUS_MINUS https://www.nba.com/stats/players/advanced?CF=TEAM_ABBREVIATION*E*HOU&dir=A&sort=NET_RATING
An RFA extension is shorter than a team extension, so he could leave earlier after that deal (like gordon hayward)
Why would he leave for the same money elsewhere? Hayward left cuz he wanted to be on a contender not because of money issue. If Amen wanted to leave one more year wont stop him.
The way he's defined a star - through the GM survey - has landed the last 3 players who won the survey max contracts. Jaylen Williams, Evan Mobley, Anthony Edwards. He won't put up numbers that will look like a max contract, but like Mobley teams understand the magnitude of scheme and development. IMO if they play with fire, they'll be playing with their best asset. If the dad is smart, he has the ultimate leverage too: if Amen walks and Durant is retiring in a year or two, the rebuild and title window are at risk of collapsing. I understand you and have enjoyed the convo.
He’s getting Alpi money, adjusted for inflation/cap space. He’s projecting to be a solid third option rn, his offensive bag is almost nonexistent when he’s not working off of others’ gravity and he needs to take a huge leap there, and handles also need a lot of work. Also doesn’t flash serious PG potential.
lol what a silly post after Amen dominated the Suns without Durant. Dude is an alpha and he’s getting the rookie max. Deal with it.
His TS% is pretty low due to playing out of position so much this season, but last night showed what he can do when playing as a forward.
He's still quite raw at what he wants to do and what the team needs him to do. He's not currently deserving of a max or what Sengun got but I dont think he'll take a 5 year deal either (that'd be amazing). Maybe like 4-130 with the 4th year being a player option. Him, Jabari and Reed still have a ways to go before realizing their potential.
Dude, he's getting the max, or so near it that the difference will be negligible. 4/130 is literally insulting. Not to mention, I'd far prefer him to sign a 5 year max than a 4/130 with a player option - we'd either be crushed when he opts out OR risk him leaving. People overthink this stuff. IMO, Amen is better than Scottie Barnes, Evan Mobley, and Franz Wagner were when they signed their rookie max contracts. Just give him the max and move on.
Why do the avatar-less posters who write in clunky, simplistic fashion always push such silly narratives?
He's not better than Sengun and Sengun signed for 38M. i dont like it when teams auto max their rookies like if you're not an all star by the time you get that extension why you even getting the max? Barnes, Mobley and Wagner don't lead contenders and esp Mobley is extremely overpaid, Cavs havent even gotten past 2nd round but he is making the super super max. Right now Amen hasnt taken that leap we expected last year unless he levels up he doesnt deserve the max.
