You do realize OKC just got back their best defender, right? It will be good when DFS and Tari are both in the lineup so we can see how the Rockets can use their depth to crush teams.
Honestly, it would be fantastic if Eason could return in December and DFS in Jan. That would give them some time to get acclimated before a nice break for All Star weekend.
Why does it feel like Tari is made of glass? And in my opinion, that is the reason the rockets didn’t give him the bag of money he requested in the offseason. DFS will be a welcome addition once he gets ready to play. As we saw Reed Sheppard is still building his NBA stamina; he was gassed in the Utah loss. Durant’s minutes need to be managed to be under 32 minutes per game. If not he will wear down by the playoffs. Without quality depth, the Rockets will be in a predicament of getting exhausted by the end of the season. Jabari, Durant, and Amen can all be significantly helped via DFS’s insertion into the rotation. But the lack of timeline for his return is somewhat concerning. I think most are expecting after the new year, but is that expectation or Rockets timeline’s?
I get that it’s all about the playoffs. But u can’t just roll off the couch and play well. It’s a new team. They need time to learn how to play with each other and gel. He needs to be playing in real games at least a month or two before the playoffs. If we get to February and he’s still not playing, that’s a huge concern. But hopefully January is an accurate timetable. The fact that there is no timetable is probably what’s rattling folks.
DFS will be with us for the next 3-4 yrs barring a trade. This guy's going to be a huge contributer to our Rockets, who will be serious contenders throughout that stretch. He's more than worth the wait. Chill.
