I'm arguing what I think would be a widely-held belief that Dak Prescott is a significantly better QB than Jared Goff. Frankly, that you think Goff is as good, or better, says a lot more about you. (I'm guessing there are various pro-Davis Mills posts throughout the forum from you? Let me grab my shocked face...)
It is not remotely widely held that Dak is better than Goff. They’re both considered top 5-10 QBs with extremely similar stats and abilities. If Stroud put up numbers like Goff, you would cream your pants talking about how good he is. That is your bias talking. I find it funny you call someone a racist, but then have one of the most obvious racially biased takes. Hypocrite
Yes, and? Generally, stats are indicative of good/bad play. But we're going to just throw those out because they don't align with your bias? Week 3 was *73* days ago. Why are you even bringing it up, other than the obvious reason? Are you arguing those three weeks are more relevant than the subsequent 8 weeks? Is this really all you have: to point to three-month old data and shout, SEE?!?!"? And even if we're, I guess, permanently scarred by those first three weeks, let's not pretend these exist in a context-free vacuum: new offensive system; first-time play caller; two starting OL that have subsequently been traded/released and another that has been benched, in addition to multiple line-up/positional changes and at least two legitimate playmakers (Marks and Higgins) sidelined + playing LA and Jacksonville, two *very* good pass defenses. So, yes: he was not good those first three weeks, along with virtually every other aspect of the team, which is why they lost all three games. But to actively choose to ignore that *legitimate* positive changes have occurred since, and instead insist that the first three games are still this team's standard, is straight-up bias-fueled delusion. Everything about this team is LIGHT YEARS better today than it was the first three weeks of the season. And I don't care what the competition was - the Texans from the first three weeks of the season would've *struggled* against weak competition. That they were blowing doors off bad teams is indicative of them figuring quite a few things out. That's exactly what good teams do. Unfortunately, Stroud got hurt and missed what was shaping up to be a really strong run for him, based on how he was playing when he got concussed. No single player is responsible for overall team success, and especially postseason success. But I feel fairly certain that even if Stroud did LEAD the Texans to a AFCCG, the "Yeah, but..."s would come roaring back to life with a vengeance. If CJ plays the rest of this year as well as he's played his last five full games, the Texans are going to be a very viable contender.
Stats are a guide not a be all end all. Example: PFF is a good piece of the puzzle but their stats dont tell the whole story, according to PFF CJ's been the worst starting QB over the last 17 games or a year (Whatever you want to call it in the NFL) and I dot believe that stat. CJ hasn't been the worst starting QB in the NFL over that period. I think we can agree on that? I'm not scarred at all and it's true that the offense has improved, but looking at CJ's play since those 3 games, they beat 2 bad teams Balt, Tenn, then got beaten like a drum against Seattle and beat a baged up 49ers team. Then looked good against the Broncos before getting concussed and missed 3 games that the team went 3-0 in. Upon coming back he looked avg against Indy in a big win. Personally I hope/think CJ is trending upwards, but the juries still out on how his season is going. Looking good against the 49ers/Broncos (Until Hurt) and avg against the Colts has me thinking he's on the upwards trend. I'll leave you with this, Boomer Essiason said today on his show that if CJ can play anywhere close to the level he was at his rookie year the Texans are SB contenders and I agree with him. What this implies to me is that Boomer thinks up until now CJ hasn't played to the standard he set as a rookie and I agree with him. I know you disagree with Boomer and me on this. It's fine to agree to disagree.
