Man, he'd be the absolutely perfect mentor for Amen and Reed. Especially Reed who's shot profile is so similar. I don't like CP3, but it might be too good a fit to pass up. If he can give us at least 20 good minutes, he'd fit right in. Preferably leading the 2nd unit. However, his efficiency absolutely died in LA (32/33/50 splits). I'm not sure he has 20 good minutes left in him. Maybe he's just calling it a career.
I would understand if it were to happen, but everyone seems to have their needs meet. CP has a lot of gravitational pull (will he pulls the right direction?) I see the need, fit and the price (cap space). The NBA would benefit from him having a ring. He owns us in a way —> the **** show after he got paid last time he was in Houston. Things I have learned over the years—> It’s not smart to keep adding spice to a soup that already tastes good.
Tyler Smith or Davison and a low 2nd... What risk would that be? Paul can't be traded for another 10 days. He may like Lakers, but I think he may prefer us for opportunity not having an experienced ball handler on the team (your mom doesn't count).
He won’t sign here. I don’t think him and his family ever liked living in Houston. Lakers are the only option.
He wasn’t waived. At least not yet. He was given the John Wall treatment, still on roster but told to stay away from the team.
Should Rockets pick him up????? Would be great mentor for Reed and a solid backup point guard in general????? CP3 would be solid for us for 15 minutes a game!!!!!
Chris Paul looks absolutely cooked on the court but waiving the best player in your franchise’s history during his final season/farewell tour is nasty work
Clippers thought the same thing. He's playing 14 min a game and his numbers warrant cutting a hometown legend who is playing for the minimum on his farewell tour. I thought he was washed 7 years ago and he proved me wrong, almost beat us in game 7 with OKC. I don't think any team gives him anything more than a Jeff Green role, and that's if he doesn't retire. I think he signs a deal to coach the Clippers or retires.
Here's the deal... since Reed hasn't played a full NBA season yet, I am worried he will hit a wall if his minutes aren't managed right.
If he is waived, wouldn't we have to wait until his prorated contract fits our cap, similar to what happened with Seth Curry? I'm no Bima so I'm not sure. I assume it would be after game 50 roughly?
That’s a hard pass on him, don’t want him to dominate the damn ball, plus he has nothing left in the tank and will mess up our chemistry. Never freaking understood the hype around Chris Paul.
Do we even have the apron room to sign him? Maybe he is willing to play as a volunteer. Or how about hiring him as an assistant Point Guard coach?
