MacTaggert said he was signed as a starter. Very interesting. This signing and the Pearson signing make a lot more sense if Houston trades Arrighetti. Otherwise they set up a VERY underwhelming rotation.

I do not expect a TOR FA addition unless Walker is moved.

    I'm still hoping for Bubic . . . they seem to want an outfielder . . .

Wonder what it would take to get him.

I watched a couple of his starts last year and he had good stuff but got hit hard both times. If the Stros pitching coaches got a hold of him he could be special IMHO. Maybe his issue is pitch sequencing.

unfortunately, that's not encouraging. Fedde kinda stinks in the MLB.

4 legitimate prospects, that Washington values.

At least one would probably need to be on their internal top 50, two of the others in their top 150, and another that is a value/upside pick for them.

Likely not intrrested in current MLBers.

But he was awesome when he first got here and this is just a 1 year deal ( with a club option)

True. I mean at this point, I'd take Hunter and four solid number threes . . . and go. If we win some, then push the chips in at the deadline. I just don't think we have many sp3's on this roster. I feel like we have a bunch of sp7 and Hunter.

Gotta squeeze that lemon some more.

Brito and Pecko are the 2 that I would hate to give up. I would give up Blubaugh. How about this

    Blubaugh/Ullola/Treadwell/Matthews for Gore

How did you come up with the 14th pick? I come up with the 17th

I had no idea until fairly recently.

The person that told me, mentioned it in conversation while discussing possible signings. They assumed I knew and told me that ultimately AGM and his “team” didn’t do what they were supposed to do when fact checking/prep about money.

He didn’t lose his job just because of that - they were pissed, but he failed to take accountability and that is what led to him being told he wouldn’t be back.

I have personally learned in business that long term you are best just taking responsibility for your mistakes and going to the “decision makers” and explaining your mistake and let them decide your fate. I only heard this second hand but it was put to me that the lack of accountability was what upset the ultimate decision makers.

Mistakes - even bad ones happen in front offices. However it seems like strength or relationships decide whether you keep your job or not.

MacTaggert knows more than I do, but when this guys name was brought up a month ago before anyone (including me) knew about him - Astros interest was in him being a long reliever or swing starter type guy. I don’t know why anything would have changed… but maybe it has

Erick Fedde was good when he first came over. He was even good early this year before he lost his command. He finished the year well too if I remember correctly.

Fedde was a 3/4 solid starter until this year- I would take that.

I am not a hugely successful person or anything but a few rules I have never broken in my professional life have served me very well:

    1. Never ever lie.
    2. Proactively take blame and accountability when something is my fault.
    3. Spread credit for wins as much as possible.

Our current society is in a crisis of accountability; it’s like people are driven to avoid any negative consequences of their actions no matter what the cost. I think it’s just a phase, but it’s pervasive across all facets of life.

His only good month was May, when he was actually controling the zone. Every other month his BB% was well over 50%.

Fedde was a 3.4 fwar pitcher in 2024. That would be a slam dunk huge win for the Astros if Weiss was that good.

I assumed they didn't sign him when the news first broke because they were working out a trade to clear a spot on the 40 man roster. I'm assuming Ort is the odd man out now.
