KD got 40, but wrong one. He's headed to the graveyard playing 40 minutes. No way on God's green Earth should 40 have been the outcome tonight.. 2nb2b, against a 6-win, non "important" game. It shouldn't happen with 2 days off. His 35.7 season average is already 3-4 minutes too many. Ime is playing with fire at a chemical plant during a drought.
Rox win yesterday. 24 pages in the gt. Rockets lose, 54 pages and counting lol Chill the **** out. Nuggets and Lakers also lost to crap teams tonight
Literally nobody but Reed is arguably one of the worst defenders in the rotation, nobody else comes close. He gets blown by every time an average guard attacks the rim. It makes you wonder if his lateral foot speed is just too slow. Until he fixes that, he should be coming off the bench, surrounded by defenders who can hide his weaknesses.
It’s a pointless argument. We win when Reed is on the floor. He has 2 games this season with a negative +/-, -13 against Detroit which was the 2nd game of the season, -3 vs Memphis. That‘s it. All the other minutes with him on the floor we have won. Even when we lose, like the Denver and Spurs game, he is a positive on the court (+13 against Denver, +8 against spurs). the point of the game is to score more than your opponent does and everything points towards us doing just that when Sheppard is on the floor, even in games we‘ve lost.
If defense is our only identity, we’ll need a lot of luck come playoff time. Udoka hasn’t changed at all in two years, his rotations are still among the worst in the league, and we still don’t have a go to offensive set that runs consistently every single game. I don’t see Udoka lasting long with this team. He fails to maximize his players’ strengths and constantly kills momentum with his dumb rotations.
Plus/minus is a noisy stat that doesn't really prove anything on its own. I watched the game, and Utah guards absolutely hunted Reed, every time they went at him, it was an automatic bucket. We really miss Fred's off ball pressure, his defensive impact was way more significant than people gave him credit for. I'm just calling it like I see it.
We deserved to lose tonight. Multiple elbows to the face and no one did a damn thing. Just bent over and said thanks for the bows Felip.
I don't think it is. One game, maybe. Not over a 20 game span, tho. If your team consistently outscores the opponent when you're on the floor, you are doing something right. Just look the names he's surrounded with for BPM- He's 5th, only behind the consensus 4 best players in the league: https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2026_advanced.html If you extend it further, none of the players in the top 20 is a bad player or a "negative" in any way shape or form. Again, if he were truly so terrible defensively that he would cost the team, the stats wouldn't all point towards him being a gigantic positive on the floor. It's just not how stats work. Tbh im myself am surprised he's 5th in BPM. That's elite level contribution.
What a sorry ass game. Rox came out flat footed with zero energy and got manhandled by a scrub team. Rox gameplan is simple: 1. Dominate boards 2. Defense 3. Lots of 3s If Rox do all three of those, they win the game. The problem is everyone is undergoing the dumb movement and starting to believe mid range shots are good again. We got to stop acting like middies are good shots because they ain't. For every mid range shot KD attempted the Jazz answered with a 3 thats why they fell down by 21. Just look at the 3s made by both teams that tells you all you need to know. For the boards Clint Capela just had 1 more reb than Reed Sheppard and Okogie just had 1 reb and nothing else.
He is still bad defensively but just like Curry he is so good offensively it doesnt matter. Prior to this game he was 63% TS and 45% from 3.
That's still a small sample size with limited minutes. I still don't think it gives a fair, neutral picture of Reed. There are a lot of contextual factors behind why his BPM and other advanced stats are high, and it's unrealistic to assume he's elite at anything yet once he starts playing real minutes against non bench players. Three or four outlier games might just be exceptions. For this specific game, he was terrible defensively. I don't need to be convinced of anything else because I know what I saw. Are you still going to deny it if I show you play by play possessions where guards attack Reed and expose him? I'm not going to overrate Reed just because he's our player. He needs to be better, because when we don't have Fred, we need him to play more than this.
All the Reed discussion aside does anyone find it bizarre Okogie went from a starter to getting like 5 minutes in a span of a week? Only Holiday and FVV can avoid Ime’s doghouse. And KD I guess, when KD dies of old age Ime will still play his corpse 40 minutes.
back to back games can sometime be scheduled as an L by the NBA executives, especially on the road. might have been the script.
