IME Udokas record is very overhyped: >Had an championship level team in 2022 >Bounced in the first round to a old warriors team in 2025 >Literally does not know how to coach He literally put a lineup of Amen-Holiday-Okogie-KD-Capela which is beyond vomit inducing, let the jazz gain momentum, and took, I repeat ZERO timeouts. Hes such a joke.
He's obviously not the worst coach in the NBA, this thread is hyperbolic and kind of dumb, but tonight against the Jazz he sure wasn't great. Now, granted, neither was the team, but there's room for improvement all-around. Nobody should be immune to criticism, though I do wish we as fans would criticize a little more intelligently.
One thing I am sure. We can't win championship under Ime coached. His rotation sucks. His adjustments are slow.
He’s good at getting people to play hard and give maximum effort. His defensive schemes are usually pretty solid. He’s awful as an offensive coach. Can you imagine what even D’Antoni could run for these guys - actually using Reed where he can succeed? Same for Amen? He doesn’t put guys in positions to succeed. When they do succeed, it’s based on their own skills, not any good offensive sets that the coach is running.
He's one of the better coaches in the league but I do wonder if he has the minimum offensive coaching skills to win multiple series en route to a championship. Kerr has tactically outclassed him twice with the less talented team. Everything he's done so far has been excellent but he still has some things to prove. I think it's good he's taking the risks to develop our young guys in Amen and Reed so if there are a couple of bumps along the way, it's fine for now.
