Statistically he hasn't though. So the only thing that has changed is TD/INT stats which he played several top defenses in a new offense at the beginning of the year. Tape says same player. Can't preach it any differently.
It's called hate watching. I do it with the Rockets now when they ignore Reed Sheppard who should be getting high volume opportunities. We all do it. Just call it what it is.
Pull it up to the 7:55 minute mark. Former players that watch tape and understand play. Let's keep it objective. Colts give up 17ppg at home. The lowest ppg given up compared to all defenses these Qb's faced. CJ played a top 10 game against the hardest defense including road away splits out of all QB's..... Anyone trying to say he didn't play well is agenda pushing.
BTG raises a good point here. CJ and the offense did not look quite right yesterday. To me the play calling looked extremely vanilla. It was as if Caley was trying to play if safe and not take risks by attempting to attack and exploit weaknesses in the Colts D. If you watched the Broncos’ offense last night you saw an offense that was geared to constantly attack the Commanders. That’s not what you are seeing here. Here, you see an offense that’s doing the bare minimum just to score 20 points and then hope the defense can save the day. While it appears to be working out so far, the time will come when it’ll be the offense’s turn to save the day and I just don’t feel they will be up to the challenge.
If we get the KC from last week then I can agree with you. It will be interesting to see what a desperate KC with its back to wall looks like.
They were constantly attacking the colts. You need a first down, to continue the drive. And this team keeps pretending it's something that it's not, tough run up the middle for positive yards. Don't forget that before the Stover Rover push fails came 2 chunk plays to get there. Same before half time. I wish we had a running game for those pne yard drive killers. Bills hide an atrocious passer day with 155 from cook.
Fortunately Jaylen Reed might not be done for the season. Also Jimmy Ward has been one of the worst acquisitions.
The Broncos have an elite playcaller and a o-line you can trust. The Commies with Kingsbury also elite playcallers. It's simply not the identity of the Texans right now. Once the o-line proves to be more resilient, Caley can open up the playbook, Stroud will start trusting that he will get time more. It's all a combination of factors. CJ is more conservative right now with the ball, and he's missing the swag that he was playing with in his rookie year. Let's hope that he can bring that back as he gains more confidence in the team around him.
Uhm.... the Broncos offense scored 20 points in regulation last night. Their 4Q results: interception, punt, punt, punt - including two 3-and-outs. Washington was able to tie the game because Denver's offense couldn't close. The Texans offense looked good yesterday after some early - unsurprising - bumps, given Stroud's lay-off. It looks like that side of the ball is gelling at the exact right time.
Agreed, Jimmy W is always hurt and this year's fiasco is no better, why he is still on this team is beyond me, I know Demeco loves the dude but what have you done for us lately.
Bo Nix is limited. He's a check down merchant that occasionally makes some clutch throws. The best attribute about him is that he doesn't take sacks and takes the checkdown so the ball keeps moving. He's a game manager.
Any time you go on the road as an underdog against the leader of our division with a QB that has three weeks of rust to shake off and win that's not a good thing it's a great thing. All this b****hing about CJ belongs in the CJ Stroud thread.
I dont think that's what he was saying, although I will let him speak for himself. Even you've got to admit CJ is a high variance player and that's going off of the last yr and a half. I would argue that CJ's been mid tier for the last yr and a half and Mills can give you that. Thing is if CJ can learn to be patient, make the proper checks/OL protection calls then he can be a top 10 QB. Mills ceiling isn't and never will be that high. The question really is after this season if CJ is about the same as he is now and maybe even a little better would you be willing to bet 5 yrs 300 mil on him? I wouldn't make that bet, but I'll bet you the McNair's will be more than willing to make that bet.
The Chiefs will have 2 possibly 3 starting OL out. So I give the Texans a 50/50 chance to beat the Chiefs/Swift's, but they will have to beat the refs too. The Chiefs in the playoffs is a good thing for the NFL.
I think most want CJ to start and succeed. What most dont want is next yr to have to pay 60 mil for a mid tier QB.
I'd take him over Lawrence, Kyler, and x "generational QB" that ends up getting that big deal. Would also take his abilities over the system QB's like Goff, Purdy, maybe even Love. The blame still goes to the front office and the refusal to bring in a season'd offensive mind that has experience building up that side (and identifying the talent/personnel needing to do so). Give me a season'd/experienced coach that says they shouldn't extend him, and you'll get your wish... chances are everybody would take him in a second and recognize/diagnose the slight regression issues from his rookie season to now and realize that its mostly not his doing. (in fact, some of those numbers... especially last year... despite line woes are even more impressive when taken in context).
