LSU supposedly has a 7 year, $90-$98 million contract prepared for Lane Kiffin. Then they suddenly admit Brian Kelly was fired without cause, which means they concede and agree to pay him the ridiculous $54 million buyout. Lane Kiffin to LSU seems to be a lock. Their complete surrender to Brian Kelly is the telltale sign.
Bro LSU has to be laundering government funds to their booster via contracts to afford the BK buyout, The Lane Train record contract and $45 NIL funds each year. Historically shady and corrupt state doing shady and corrupt things….yeah most likely yes.
Kiffin to LSU Ryan Silverfield (Memphis) to Arkansas Alex Golesh (USF) to Auburn Jon Sumrall (Tulane) to Florida
Lane is getting all of the attention, but Tulane might be the second playoff team to lose their coach before the games start. Insane.
Oil money and LSU being the only big state school. A whole bunch of them do not let their names be made public, including the one who guaranteed Kelly's buyout payment.
Herbstreit had a great rant on how the FBS needs to go to a more "NFL Calendar" as far as recruiting, transfers, coaching changes etc. It's ridiculous that a whole lot of this **** is happening during the season.
Lane Kiffin is a complete slimy sh!tbag and now I hope he crashes and burns at LSU. I will also be rooting for the kids/coaches at Ol Miss in the playoffs, which is something I could never imagine doing before.
Yeah another “splash” hire. I hope this one works out. Also, don’t talk bout “my” coach like that, guy.
1000000000%. I’ve never understood this even back in the day pre-playoff, how coaches would leave before coaching a bowl game. It’s crazy.
Am I crazy or did LSU just pay too many transfers to come in a play defense? Transfers that needed to boost their NFL stock, not buy-in to a team concept. Not sure Kiffin is the guy to fix that. But who else are you gonna hire?
I have a contradictory opinion. I sort of like Lane Kiffin and the sports media's maximum blitz, negative pile-on gives me pause about being critical of him. I'm a contrarian by nature and my first instinct when observing any kind of feeding frenzy is to go against the crowd. But, in my heart, I want Kiffin to fail miserably at LSU. This is partially because I don't like LSU and because it creates the most theatrical outcome. It would be glorious if people were calling for his head after 2-3 years with another huge buyout looming.
Snake Kiffin the same guy he’s always been. “Changed man” ha ha ha (lol @ E60 documentary) I hope he’s fired in 3 years like Brian Kelly. Raiders exit. Al Davis: “flat-out liar”, said Kiffin was guilty of “bringing disgrace to the organization.” “[He] conned me, like he conned all you people.” Left in middle of the night at Tennessee Fired on the tarmac at USC Saban told him to GTFO before NC (FAU job; Saban now says he should be allowed to coach OM) Ole Miss exit
Sorry, but Al Davis had been a psychopath since Tom Flores and Ron Wolf left the buiilding. Running off Marcus Allen after Bo Jackson's injury? Randomly signing the Super Bowl MVP year after year? Drafting JaMarcus Rusell over Kiffin's objectioon?
I actually think there's a decent possibility that Lane had good intentions through all of this, and maybe this is different from his snaky past, but the lure of LSU was just too much to pass up despite literally having the chance to play for a championship this year. Although deep down he knows the odds are very long and they have overachieved this year. The problem is that his history makes it so hard to give him the benefit of the doubt. The lack of controls in place with the CFB schedule and recruiting periods, etc. also exacerbated it.
