Not unless another 9-3 team you've beaten gets in. Playing a tougher schedule gets you a tie-breaker, not an invitation.
Both are Big Rivalries dating back to at least the 70s when Texas Oklahoma was often an elimination game for the National Championship. The Aggies were typically the best Southwest Conference Rival, at least before Houston joined the Conference and chased them both out of the Conference. Go Coogs!
Yes. We all know the count. Thanks though. Pretty good record against your biggest rival now do since 1975
FL and KY games were too ugly IMO. And they have to put a pee-pee team in for some reason (Tulane? Why.) They definitely look better lately though. And should be a contender next year.
Lost to a trash 4-8 Florida. I don’t mind MS St and KY ugly game wins. Everyone has those. But getting owned by Sunbelt Billy is an automatic no go for me. Hell of a season. Beat our SWC rivals while ruining lil bros SECCCG dream.
UH took the conference 3 out of the first 4 years. Texas should be happy, they killed our National championship season in 1979. That was our only loss. Many say the refs gave UT the game that day. Wouldn’t surprise me. UH finished #4 and beat Nebraska in the Cotton.
You spent the entire season b****ing about how horrible the coach is, how the QB needs to be banished, how bad the playcalling and coordinators are, etc. And now they are suddenly a top 8 team? Texas' problem is not losing to OSU. You can get in over teams with fewer losses. The problem is they looked awful for much of the season, including in several of their wins like UTEP, Kentucky, and Miss St. And none of the other 5 SEC teams in consideration had a conference loss to a Florida type team - Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, OU, and Vandy all lost to the top of the SEC and looked better week-in and week-out than Texas did, despite a few big wins. Had Texas been more impressive throughout the season, they are likely above OU and/or Vandy right now thanks to their head-to-head wins. But the reality is they didn't. And that's why Texas is likely to be on the outside looking in.
