Or finishing at the rim, or finishing through contact, or grasping defensive concepts, but yeah I agree.
There are few elite mid-range guys because players don't practice those shots in mass - it's just 3's and dunks. First shot warming up is a 3PT. Mid range pull-ups are difficult to guard and misses create fewer fast break opportunities for the other team. Part of OKC's historic defense is helped by that with Shea's mid range, plus all his FTs. All of that reduces fast breaks. Harden's FTs helped the Rockets defense indirectly.
as a jalen green trash hoops enjoyer, reed having the mid range makes reed's ceiling a bit higher than jalen. If Jalen had a mid range, he would still be a rocket and an all star. 2nd year barely, played his first year, Reed destroyed THE WARRIORS with mid range after mid range when Draymond Green locked up Sengun. That is significant. The Warriors b**** the rockets all the time, no matter the line up and reed put up a master class.
An understandable complaint if: A. Jalen was good at middies B. Morey wasn't in Philly the whole time. Morey would have taken Mobley at 2.
So you don't think phones and social media existed? What if Morey was messaging JG the entire time and made a bad compelling argument or had dirt on his 45 year old baby mama he didn't want public at the time? The amount of Morey apologists on this forum is insane. If given the choice, Morey would choose to end the midrange before world hunger or poverty.
so you don't deny my initial point? I didn't start any of those threads, they just presented themselves. Morey apologist strikes again.
They trapped him multiple times and they played 1-3-1 zone which neither green or the rockets could figure out. Disappointing. Frustrating but he’s gone now. Plenty to be excited about Sheppard as he continues to grow
My theory is you can actually tell whether a rookie is worth keeping or not after two or three seasons with fair amount of playing time. That's why I didn't criticize Jalen at all in his first two seasons. Young player needs time to learn and grow. However, by half of his third season, I think I've seen enough and made my judgement that he is not worth keeping. His progress is just way too slow and efficiency is always a big issue. For Reed, he barely got any real minutes in his first year. Because of FVV's injury, Ime has to play Reed more. I am just so happy that he seized this opportunity. It's not easy for the kid, he didn't have the privilege that Jalen had under Silas. The cream always rises to the top.
Calm down. It isn't a competition between the 2 players. Jalen also has a big playoff win against the Warriors, anyway.
Mid-range also increases chance of rebounding your own miss. Layups, middie, 3PT, in order. Basic geometry. Seems any player, much less one shooting 80% FT, lacking mid-range is showing an automatic sign of lacking bball IQ.
Reed progressed before his injury last season. He's not getting minutes this year simply because FVV is out. This season there would be less PG Amen, plus Fred seems a player who's better suited for 25-30 min with his injury history. He's 31 y/o pushing 35.
