100%. Bari get‘s a lot of **** on here but we‘re clearly a much much better team when he‘s out there.
That would be the worst defensive unit in the league. This team just needs to try and hang onto all their players. It be nice to move Fred for a 26 draft pick and an expiring contract or two.
We are in a great place as a team. We have younger players replacing our veterans. Our veterans are on shorter contracts as well. IMO, FVV extension was a bit of a gamble because of playing time and contracts size. But FVV is done when Reed needs payment so we are okay. I will say this here and now that KD should be odd man out going forward. His value is here and now. NOT the future. Please don’t resign him. A very steep discount is the only way he should be here past his current contract. I think Eason has more long term value than KD at the end of KD’s current contract. The KD extension is our future…
With the Okogie non-Love on the board (assumption that he loses most his minutes if anyone improves, comes back), I thought who would want Okogie. I'd want to get the Rockets draft pick war chest to 10 FRPs starting in the 2027 offseason (it will be 9 if no trades). The 1st team that comes to mind is the Lakers. Capela, Okogie to Lakers for LaRavia, Knect and an unprotected FRP in 2031. Doubt Lakers would sacrifice a pick for 1 year of help in a stacked West Then, I thought Cleveland. Maybe Ball and 2031 FRP for Capela and Okogie. Could also just do Okogie for FRP. East is open so Okogie could make playoffs a lot easier if they get healthy.
Grateful to Fred and how he has helped us the last two years. I am absolutely gutted for him that he got hurt, but it is obvious that the injury has a lot of silver linings. As soon as December 15 hits, I am beginning to look for the best singular player I can acquire for FVV+ Capela And I am flexible on the other salary filler depending on the return. Obviously, we will have to compensate in some manner the team that is agreeing to pay him $25 million next year. I don’t see it as a situation where he is going to refuse the option just to stay in Houston. I think that we have been fair with him and paying him this year to do nothing, I think he would understand. As far as winning a title in the Durant era, which I consider the next three years. I really want to keep/build around… Sengun/Adams Smith/DFS(unless a real stud becomes available. Durant/Tari(I believe we will be able to match whatever contract offer he is given) Amen/ Reed Gives us Capela, FVV and filler to get to around 36 million. I knew we could keep Eason at a reasonable contract. I would say trade Finney-Smith But he obviously has no trade value right now and is a slightly different player than Eason and maybe more cerebral. Trading Eason along either Capela and Fred grts yiu to $44 ish And if the receiving team thinks they’ll be able to get Eason on a good contract, then maybe that helps offset some of the value require required in order to make up for the VanFleet situation. Love Fred But this year is too valuable.
Agree on FVV, but if you trade capella you are gambling that Adams is healthy come playoff time. My other thing is I only want expiring contracts, because with Reed’s massive improvement we need to save FVV’s cap space for our own guys
He just signed a 2 yr extension for far below his max dude....KD is our best or 2nd best guy and you wanna treat him like Bradley Beal smh
FVV as a player and has always been grossly overrated and paid as a Rocket. (Sorry if you can’t see this) Hopefully Stone deals in the future not the past or present because KD and FVV are on the backside of their careers or already spent (FVV knee and had already lost a step). Thinking of KD taking up over a 1/3+ of the cap in 2 years is board line criminal. We are/will be too good of a team to keep him. If we do keep him, then his extension will be the end of our hopes of a dynasty because we gave up something of value we developed to keep an aging superstar (that will breakdown soon). Tomorrow looks different than today.
I think you are correct. Durant for two years was perfect. It syncs up for when we will have to start paying our future star players that we have at least 3 of and if Jabari and/or Tari keep progressing even more. We also have hopefully some really good draft picks that should allow us to create a long window of championship contention even after Durant is gone. Patience is key. We have a shot at a championship the next 2 years if all we do is hang onto our roster. So far the FO has stuck to their plan and I’m hopeful they continue to keep going along the same path. I think trading for a star this year or next is potentially more harmful than helpful.
I definitely do not mind riding it out with Capela. He adds a little bit of a different element, and the three bigs is great. So maybe just FVV along with Eason or DFS. Or maybe just FVV. I really like this group as is so I struggle to identify a player that I think would bring it all together. Especially if we are comparing ourselves to the thunder. Jrue Holiday maybe?
