Been a big believer in Reed since before the draft and I knew he had it in him to perform at least at this level at some point, but even I didn't see him catching on this quickly. Clearly our PG of the future and he fits perfectly with Amen, Alpi, and Jabari. Also, looks like he has really worked on putting in a lot of CP3 in his game - that behind the back crossover going to your right and straight into a midrange elbow pullup is a signature CP3 move. In a few years time, hope he can incorporate even more CP3 and Steve Nash into his game, especially in regards to navigating through traffic and probing the lane while keeping his dribble alive. His vision and IQ are obviously capable of this - he just needs to continue building on his technical skillset.
There was no conspiracy against Reed. The team needed his potential skills but he didn't perform well on either end of the floor when given opportunity. This is obviously an old topic you've had on this forum, arguing with several posters, so you'll overplay/exaggerate to make a point. Ime gives rookie LeBron 13 min/game!! Same way Ime conspired against Reed when the team needed shooting. I'm just happy Reed has played better this season. Go Rockets !!
thats inaccurate of you. If a fan can’t criticize a player for what the fan believes then I suppose that player is perfect with no flaws. Also no one on this site including yourself is allowed to criticize any player if criticism or assessing a player is considered hate.
I never suggested a conspiracy, it's just Ime being Ime. There's things he's very good at and things he's terrible at. It is what it is.
Nearly everyone can claim... I told you so. Do you like the selection of Reed Sheppard? Poll closed Oct 14, 2024. YES 569 vote(s) 94.0% NO 36 vote(s) 6.0%
Udoka wanted Sheppard or Castle or the center from UCONN early in the draft prep. By the end of the preparation - he wanted Reed. He wanted Sheppard over a defensive center and a potential lockdown perimeter defender… the fact Ime wanted a point guard that could shoot over two defensive standouts gives us an idea of highly he thought of Sheppard.
The recent debate was Reed's performance last season. It's not usual for rookies to struggle then improve.
It’s entirely possible that Reed was the only player in the draft with a projected elite skill (shooting) that just so happened to be a need for the Rockets.
Even if he saw Castle or Clingan as BPA, we've seen the disaster that is paring Amen with a non shooter, which would be done nearly every minute he's on the court if we drafted either of those two. One non shooter on the court? You can make that work. Two? Unacceptable in the NBA for the last 20 years.
CP3, should he have interest, will make an incredible coach some day. He may be a complete ******* according to some, but his mental acumen is undeniable. His processing of the game is one of the best I've ever seen and I think he could impart that knowledge to young guards trying to find their way...especially undersized ones.
Earlier in the season or last year, instead of the cross over, he’d panic and pick up his dribble with nowhere to go. It’s like night and day in just couple of months. What an amazing turnaround.
The biggest issue is that he simply wasn't hitting shots. We all said he needs to be more confident etc...but when he had a below average 3-PT percentage, it's hard to ignore that. Now that he's actually making the shots we were hoping, his confidence has grown exponentially. But definitely not irrational confidence (ie. Delusion) such as chucking up a bunch of shots. He's adjusting his game based on what's working and slowly expanding his boundaries. Which I love since the Rockets are a contending team, not the Charlotte Hornets who can afford to let their draft picks kinda goof around and explore the studio space. He's taking shots within the flow of offense in an organic fashion, and has been a great help to the team this season. And he's only going to get better.
Bro is it just me, or am I still feeling happy from that Rockets win? The future is so bright with this team because of Reed/Amen/Sengun Reed going off literally made thanksgiving dinner better . . .
Its interesting just how much chaos Reed creates when he's on the floor. I haven't seen a player that can cause this sort of panic in a defense since Wardell. Ime has to be absolutely giddy at the offensive sets he can create now with KD/Bari/Amen/Sengun. We need one other shooter/creator now as our final infinity stone (McCollum/Middleton/Jrue).
