Hey the dude has looked decent for the last month - great! I hope he continues to improve and become a superstar - but i aint bettin money on it at this point,,, lol! Idc what he's done in college or the development league - NBA is another level... I hope it translates - but again, i aint bettin money on it... there are tons of college stars whose game doesnt translate...

I was never a LOF... but dude had an impressive run over a longer duration than we've seen from Reed thus far... which is a reason why I dont take a limited sample size as the gospel....

You’re not necessarily wrong lol. However, I don’t think this qualifies as a Von Wafer type of situation. The difference is that Reed is living up to his draft position and pre draft scouting report. This is basically what the Rockets and scouts have been saying Reed is capable of playing like.

But I think your point is well taken. We fans are fanatical and do like the next new toy.

You normally want to build around more than one player. Morey used to say you needed three stars to build a championship team. So, Reed can be part of the young core you build around.

You don’t build around Reed Sheppard. Reed Sheppard builds around you.

I think the most likely outcome right now is that he's either 6th man or #4 option until KD is out of the picture, then becomes the #3 option. I don't think we really need to stress about it either way though. His archetype is pretty much "plug and play" with any lineup, and it'll be up to him how close he can get to that Steph Curry-esque dream scenario. My money would still be closer to "souped-up FVV" as his outcome, so something better than Fred but not quite as good as Curry, and he now looks much likelier to reach that level. But it's still a small sample size and he has a lot of proving it left to do.

To be fair though, souped up FVV with a better 3 ball is a pretty perfect fit for our current younger star players. Even if he never exceeds that, it sounds like the perfect PG for the direction of the team.

Stop creating these dumbass threads trying to create division within the fanbase. OP did the same s*** with Jalen/Alpi.

Kidding aside, i'm just fine if they give him a gracious evaluation window the same way Jalen had for like at least 3 to 4 years, before Stone finally ended the experiment.

Sengun/Smith/Amen/Reed are my four building blocks right now. I feel great about all of them.

I guess it’s really gonna depend on how we handle the 2 to 4 year Durant “era” vs looking what is after that.

Just random. Say we didn’t have Sengun Durant and Amen.

which young player would you team up with Sheppard?

They already have. In preparation for His coming.

    What does Reed need?

A big to suck in defenses giving him plenty of open shots. As well as a big to run pick and rolls and such.

Good defenders around him to offset his deficiencies in that regard.

We kind have exactly what all the budding stars on our team need. They’re just not mature enough yet.

Sengun, Reed, Amen, and even Jabari all complement each other so well. If they each improve in consistency in the things they’re clearly good at, we have a genuinely “perfect” team. Instead of just a team with 4 good starters whose skill sets don’t necessarily mesh.

Who knows what happens in 3 years in terms of contracts and player movement. And of course I am looking forward to watching the development and improvement over that time… But man I’d love to flip a switch to 3 years from now and see these 4 playing together. They could be the next Iggy, Steph, Klay, and Dray.

Reed is definitely looking way better on offense. He is showing he can finish, but I’d like to see him finish through contact. Haven’t really seen that at all. Shield your body like FVV. Defensively, he gambles too much BUT he hustles like a dawg, it’s almost like that’s the defensive plan. Have him hound his opponent 360 degrees and use “getting beat” against them. He gambles, misses, you now stare at 3-4 other great defenders figuring out how to attack while Reed is still nipping at your heels on your rear like a little chihuahua.

Out of all NBA players under, say, age 25? I mean, Wemby is kind of the obvious answer. I think he would also fit well with Franz Wagner.

I would go further and say you roughly build around 2 players now.......preferably 2 way players.

Wagner right now is a 1b player ...maybe on the verge, Paolo also a 1b player so it seems. Desmond 2a.
