There is 0.0000% chance Fred is traded this season. In a way, he might be the least likely player to be traded in the entire NBA.

He has an ironclad no trade clause. He moved his family to Houston. He is in the middle of recovering from an ACL. He is on a contender. He is the leader in the clubhouse and practically the associate head coach.

To anyone thinking he could be “pressured” or “convinced” to waive his NTC, Fred is literally the current president of the NBA player’s association lol.

Fred would be a nice veteran backup off the bench. He's overpaid as a backup. But he'll be a valuable veteran presence. He can play the Conley role for us.

Worst case scenario, we can trade him next season as an expiring contract.

Amen never lost his starting position after his breakout last year. Reed's breakout is shocking on a faster trajectory than even Amen. So like Amen, I don't think he's coming back to the bench.

Not a chance...putting amen on the bench is the stupidest take ever. He isnt good enough offensely to provide some major benefit as the 6th man anyways.

I think you misread - I said like Amen, I don't think Reed is going back to the bench after his breakout

Reed should be a starter for the next decade plus.

You don't have to pressure Fred but I bet you can offer him a better situation. I'm sure big market contenders would appeal to him.

However I'm sure he'll be back before the playoffs.

Those teams might appeal to him in one way or another, but when his team loses the right to resign him above the cap, without the use of an exception, that's a deal breaker.

It essentially says "my next contract is a veteran minimum" and you cannot convince me that he's going to accept that when he doesn't have to.

Yeah probably, that's why I said we probably see him back before the playoffs. Seems like the easiest option. Will be excellent if he can at worst give us 25 minutes off the bench in the playoffs.

By then the team will have learned to function without him so I think the reduced pressure on him will make him a better rotation player.

Eyes don’t lie….horrible defender. He’s complimentary because he’s gone from worst defender in the NBA to just a horrible defender. Also, don’t correct my spelling please.

FVV playing 25 mins would mean Reed didn’t progress. We have DFS and Tari to find minutes for. Okogie doesn’t play 25 mins a game since Reed became relevant. FVV should be traded at the deadline if possible, but in the off-season for sure. FVV was god-awful last year and was just about as responsible, if not more, than Jalen for our horrible offense. Double bigs was only effective, because of all the bricks he and Jalen were pumping up. The only reason to keep FVV is for injury insurance. If possible and he will agree to it, trade him for a 26 frp and expiring contracts or just expiring contracts. We have an extremely deep and well rounded team as is. Our sole roster goal should be hanging on to our existing rotation players.
