Yup, green can't touch jokic (pretty much the one guy he doesn't f*** with) and maybe 26-27 year old sengun would be able to deal with this version of green but he's not there yet. This game and the denver game were definitely disappointing though, would still hope for more than he gave.
"Amen and Sengun are not having a good shooting night, but they're doing everything else." Espn after the dive that got them the ball and Steph hurt. JFC the overreaction. If you can't see what's going on, I don't know what to tell you. They're being beyond physical in the post, over the top from what was allowed in the 90s. When they took a 6 pt lead on the hockey assist, check out the spingboard bulldog that Dray lands on Sengun. The next best option to get them to back off is to get him in the PnR. We no longer have that, so cross that out. He settled for too many jumpers and they didn't fall. That's not his game. Still contributed to the win This is for the Rockets and Coach Fred to catch R33d up to speed on the spots Sengun likes to get to on the rolls. Instead of 5 lame jumpers it's five Sengun freight train eurosteps to the basket for the bucket or assist. R33d is ready.
I wouldn’t mind giving Sengun some off games. Give the man couple games off and I bet his efficiency will improve.
Alperen had no real summer, all the National team games and exhibition games....... and now useless Emirates Cup games.
I'm speechless at the amount of posters who ride Sengun, but can't actually acknowledge the fact he is literally being forced to play to his weakness. God this team needs an offensive coordinator in the worst way. Someone who can understand that hey - remember how Sengun cooked in the post and then seemingly always found a man with his vision and passing - yeah maybe they need to get him the ball in the post instead of nearly every single one of his touches coming beyond the three point line.
I love sengun, hes a perenial all star caliber player. Im just greedy. I just want a little more touch from him. It feels like he should have it.
Sengun didn't have a great game. It happens. Green is basically the perfect player to guard Sengun: strong enough but also fast enough. Usually sengun is either stronger or faster then his opponents and he uses that. But not against green. On top of that he can foul all he wants. I did want sengun to stay aggressive and try to score. But at the end of the game he did direct our offense and we got the win. So I am fine with this outcome. I
I watched the game. Sengun was exhausted. And when I say exhausted, I mean absolutely drained. He didn’t even have the strength to lift his arms. Normally, when he gets the ball behind the three-point line, he penetrates, goes to the rim, and if he can’t get there, he draws the defense and kicks it out to the open man. But in this game, whenever he caught the ball behind the arc, he was so tired that he just kept settling for threes. And of course, he bricked all of them. I don’t think it was a mental issue—he just looked physically spent, though I don’t understand why he was that tired. Anyway, it doesn’t really matter. This team will make the playoffs directly one way or another. What matters is that he gets there without any injuries. He doesn’t need to be the team’s leading scorer either. We’ve seen plenty of star players who lead their teams in scoring but end up dragging the whole team down. Making the offense flow is far more important than being the top scorer. Once the postseason starts, he’ll show “Tournament Alpi" to everyone.
Some of us that watched EuroBasket predicted it, just did not expect it before January or February. I remembered the season when he went against the Kings and had that injury which made him sit in a wheel chair, he already had back issues before that.
I don’t give Green’s conditioning and skill that much credit. His defensive game is psychological, he’s dirty AF and everyone knows he will get away with it. So not only will he be all over someone as a good defensive player, he will get little cheap shots in when he thinks he can mask it. Alpy is still young and immature and doesn’t know how to deal with that sort of player. Yet.
He could have a cold or may have hit a wall for a bit or may have some emotional issues going on now. He is human after all. He'll be happy again soon.
I know nothing about Turkey, the politics of Turkey, or what the "backlash" is like over there so it's hard for me to have a strong opinion on whether or not this is true. And it's also only 3 games, and the phoenix game wasn't even bad. But it is certainly an interesting theory.
Y’all, he’s just in a bit of a slump right now. It’s not like he’s been awful - he’s averaged 16/6/5 the last three games. Watch - I bet he goes off sometime in the next two games.
Alpi played 7 games against Draymond in the playoffs and was reintroduced to him last night. The solution is very simple: Alpi must sink the open 10-15 ft jumpers Draymond concedes. The Warriors defensive strategy is to concede what Alpi doesn't want to do and force him into what Draymond wants, which is the low post.
His 3 ball has been letting him down since the Denver game. So probably feeling the effects of that. But we don’t win the last two games without 28.
