That was a comparison solely at Walmart. This is from the American Farm Bureau comparing prices nationwide.

 

According to that report wholesale turkey prices are higher today than they were last year but retailers are selling at a loss bcz business is bad and theyre trying to attract folks into the store. Vegetables and ham have both seen price increase according to that report.

I guess a shitty economy has lowered turkey prices but for the wrong reasons (slowing economy).

 

Thanksgiving turkeys have always been a "loss leader" as far as I know.
