Going back to when ICQ and AIM were popular. White power groups were the first to use chat and chat rooms as a means to recruit people. Then much later on it was the Muslim extremists to finally the MAGA of today. It seems like we're headed for a full circle, back to the white power groups.

I honestly don’t know how you raise kids in this environment.

used to make fun of kids whose parents didnt give them internet access. But I sure as hell am not giving it to them until they’re older

I am doing it - it requires a very high level of involvement. My wife is a stay-at-home housewife and does an exceptional job. The fact she is very bright and well educated goes a long way. I also am very involved, I make sure I spend at least an hour with him and just him every day so he can talk to me and I can listen..... now schools are different as well. His school has 3-4 psychologists and a psychiatrist on staff. He has gone to the same school since pre-school.

It has taken all of that and a psychologist he sees to just talk with twice a month for him to be well adjusted and to make smart decisions (so far).

Having said that - most families do not have a parent to stay home, and have both parents with advanced degrees.... most families cannot send their kids to top 5% schools, pay for psychologists and have the time to ensure that their kid gets the type of attention that my son gets.

It really isn't a good time to raise children - even in his school, many of these kids are wealthy but spend unmonitored several hours a day on the internet with the manosphere, p*rn, left and right wing extremism and predators online.

My son has definitely found himself in that manosphere/right wing algorithm. It is ridiculous. My other son is a raging leftist, but spends his time on YouTube, rather than TikTok.

I used to think the pandemic wouldn't leave a major long-term impact, but I've come to believe it normalized heavy online use, and the reliance on tech during the pandemic to substitute for physical connection has only pushed that further... and that's been devastating for society.

It is hard to avoid - honestly some right-wing bias is hard to avoid. My son told me that Los Angeles was the worst place in America, and I had to explain to him that is a talking point and that it isn't much different than any other place.

Yeah - the manosphere is hard to miss for young males.... males and females are interacting less than ever, and in many cases young males are not equipped socially or emotionally to deal with women.

The pandemic had a massive impact. Credit to my wife for very early on saying that it would change things a great deal. I can say that 9/11 and the Pandemic are the two biggest social changes in my 45+ years on the planet.

I'm surprised it didn't work. It sounds like a very well thought out and rational plan.

I don't blame the youth. I blame the screen time these youths are spending on their phones instead of touching grass.
I run a fairly large Dining services Department for the county.
I hire a fair amount of youths by youths I mean the 18 to 26 demographic. why is that age 26 so important. That's when the state of New York kicks you off of your parents medical plan.

Anyway, I see these individuals daily and I can say with a fair amount of confidence these individuals have reduced social skills as a result of Covid and Cell phones. I suspect the line between online reality and practical real-life reality is quite grey.
I have parents that attempt to sit in on interviews with their son or daughter. I have had parent reach out to me to try and adjust their child's hours and request time off for them. I have seen parents fill out applications for them.

At current I have 65 associates that work for me, if you take out the cooks who tend to be older, and you take out my long-term associates it leaves about 20 associates that fit into this demographic. Out of those 20, 8 have job coaches. Not because they are on the spectrum or have D-syndrome.
IT'S BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOCIAL ANXIETY!!!!!
    Let that sink in.

They would have to nut up and start dating first.

My son is a musician, so I have never been exposed to him "dating traditionally".
You know, bringing someone home to meet the family.
But I do know he meets and interacts with humans on a daily basis either in studio or at clubs.
I can't say the same for many at his age 27

I don't think that the West, and especially the USA was ready for social media. We have very little restrictions on it and believe in an open market. While an open market can be very good, it also can cause problems if left unchecked. We have teenagers and young adults, especially males that do not know how to court a romantic interest, don't know how to look people in the eyes and have a basic conversation - that in some cases have never had employment, and instead shove their ears with social media content that is extremely biased and flawed - and is geared towards blaming the other gender for all of their social issues and personal failings.

Some of these people will figure out how to be somewhat social, but I fear a lot will not.

I don't blame these young people, they have the most addictive, inviting and toxic vice shoved in their face from an early age - and many of them are literally raised by social media with both parents working long hours.

With them living online and indoors, they are not exposed to black people, poor people or even women--- a lot easier to hate a group you haven't met.

LOL. Those two guys taking on an entire country and killing all the males? These two have some serious mental issues to think that would have been even remotely possible. Good Lord, what a delusional state of mind those two live in.
