For everyone saying he is getting the Supermax, we may need to save that for Reed Shepherd jk

realistically should get quite a bit less than what Sengun got

No, he will get more. Sengun had a low cap hold and his extension was going to light cap space on fire, so he had no leverage. If he wanted a max he was going to have to risk playing his 4th season without an extension. Amen is not in that situation, his extension does nothing to our cap space.

Amen Thompson the supermax? Are y’all serious?

What has he done to be worth that?

Until he develops a somewhat reliable shot, I wouldn’t pay him more than 30M a year. Great player but absolutely overrated by our fanbase. If he asks for the max, let him hit restricted free agency, I doubt any team will give him that kind of money.

Insane take. He would 100% get max offer sheets and teams would open cap space for him.

In my opinion, insanity would be paying max money for a guy who hurts our spacing every single time he is on the floor. Great defender, amazing athlete and instincts, but there’s no way a non center is worth max money in today’s nba being a 0 from 3pt range or even midranges.

That being said, I also think he would instantly be a top 15 player the moment he develops even a slightly below average 3pt shot. I just don’t think it’s ever going to happen.

I’d pay him more than that, but a supermax sounds ridiculous

I don’t even know where that talk is coming from

    he’s a souped-up Andre Iguodala, not a franchise guy

I bet he’ll get the rookie max. Whether or not it has escalators, I can’t say. Not sure what people are talking about the “supermax” since he hasn’t and likely won’t qualify.

Regarding Sengun, his contract has a player option, so he very well may get the “supermax” in 2029 when he’s 27.

Completely irrelevant to what you said. There is a 100% chance he would get a max offer sheet if he was an RFA.

Amen isnt a supermax...not even close at the moment. Unless he proves otherwise with the rest of the season to play + playoffs

He could be if he stops pretending to be a guard and simply sticks to what he's good at. If you want him to sign for cheap, keep the PG experiment going and his value will continue to tank.

Amen is a great cutter/finisher largely because he practiced playing off ball the entire season last season; Udoka has said in so many interviews that Amen developed this ability to play off ball.

Another reason behind his excellence as an offball player? Processing speed and instincts. This bodes well for Amen down the road.

Why give up on the PG Amen experiment when the consensus is that PG is the most difficult position to learn? Are we applying a different standard just because he isn't a rookie? We are not even 2 months into the season.

I don't think Stone will lowball Amen and risk losing him to teams that are happy to bet on him.
