Was she going to get primaried by some MAGA in her district then get kicked out the party like Liz Cheney?

I guess she saw the writing on the wall

once the cult turns on you, you’re done

Liz Cheney voted with Trump 95% of the time, but her line in the sand was Jan 6th. No republicans support her now.

MTG is the John Fetterman of the republican party…no way in hell Fetterman ever wins another Dem primary

MTG is doing one of those “I didn’t get fired. I quit.”

I think she has rejected aipac money, her networth around 25 millions, she can have BIGGER influence if she quit, a chess move .

Meanwhile , Schumer,Jeffrey,Johnson, Cruz are the highest paid politicians for hire on the roster

She was winning her district, the lobby got to her and most likely threatened with something, maybe she’d get Kirk’d

there’s a reason Congress votes to shunt $$$$ away from its own citizens

She was winning her district? Marjorie isn’t more powerful than MAGA or Trump. Her next bid for re-election is only a year from now. If she got primaried, she’d lose, and probably lose badly. The cult will choose Trump over her every time. I do think she’s been getting threatened as well. She already talked about having security firms reach out to her and her daughter said to pray for her.

I get it for her tho

Why spend the next year dealing with escalating threats of violence from the cult and facing the full force of Trump and the republican party’s wrath just to get destroyed in a primary? Might as well wait for that pension to kick in and then go lay low and live your life without all the stress and fear for your safety

Trump called out Elissa Slotkin yesterday, and today her home received a bomb threat…Mark Kelly was also called out yesterday, and he is talking about hiring extra security (his wife was already a victim of an attempted assassination 15 years ago)

    Why go through all that?

I would normally say yes but in this instance from why what’s being reported she would have likely won. Trump is essentially a lame duck at this point. She also had no reason not to finish her term if that was the case. On a podcast the other day she was talking about the pressure from foreign lobby etc and how she feared for her life

she was one of the main ones that spearheaded the Epstein files. Congress is bought and paid for, I wouldn’t be surprised

gonna have to agree to disagree on her winning

Trump might be a lame duck, but he still controls the party with an iron fist and MAGA is still mostly 100% behind him no matter what he does

going through another year of feuding with Trump and MAGA and dealing with threats to her safety until her term ends in 2027 just isn’t worth it…she’s rich and can go live her life in peace without all the stress

She said she was getting pressure from foreign lobbies over the Epstein Files? Like they were telling her to drop it or else?

I think Green is making a smart move. Trump still controls the Republican Party. But, over the next few years his power will continue to diminish. Green separating herself from Trump and the “swamp” could pay dividends in the coming years.

    they include
    • hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer (known for taking Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on a luxury fishing trip) has so far contributed $1 million to the MAGA KY Political Action Committee (PAC), making him the leading funder of the anti-Massie effort.
      • hedge fund manager John Paulson has ponied up $250,000 to MAGA KY.
      • And a super PAC tied to Miriam Adelson — the widow of Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson — has so far donated $750,000 to the effort

Agreed. I think she is setting herself up to run for higher office later. A year of fighting with Trump creates reputational risk.

She's tapping out because there's no home left for her. Like many former Republicans, she's realizing that the party she once supported no longer represents her values - it's become about power, power concentrated in the hands of a few and ultimately one person. Still, she's leaving the door open to return.

I'm no fan of hers, but this is someone who's standing by her values rather than blindly following a man. We need more people like that... people who fight for their values, not for an individual or a party.

    Her statement in full

    https://www.newsweek.com/marjorie-taylor-greene-resigns-statement-in-full-11092645

    ...

Loyalty should be a two way street and we should be able to vote our conscience and represent our district's interest because our job title is literally, "Representative."

Standing up for American women who were raped at 14, trafficked and used by rich powerful men, should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for.

I have too much self respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms. And in turn, be expected to defend the President against impeachment after he hatefully dumped tens of millions of dollars against me and tried to destroy me.

It's all so absurd and completely unserious. I refuse to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away and gets better.

If I am cast aside by MAGA Inc and replaced by Neocons, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Military Industrial War Complex, foreign leaders, and the elite donor class that can't even relate to real Americans, then many common Americans have been cast aside and replaced as well.

There is no ‘plan to save the world’ or insane 4D chess game being played.

When the common American people finally realize and understand that the Political Industrial Complex of both parties is ripping this country apart, that not one elected leader like me is able to stop Washington's machine from gradually destroying our country, and instead the reality is that they, common Americans, The People, possess the real power over Washington, then I'll be here by their side to rebuild it.

Until then I'm going back to the people I love, to live life to the fullest as I always have, and look forward to a new path ahead.

Do I believe that people can intrinsically change? Yes, but it’s rare and usually takes a traumatizing event. So has MTG changed? Fuuuuck no. But she learns from her mistakes which makes her a better politician, which is even worse.

I think its weird you think Trump will have any power after '28. we are effectively an oligarch. Nobody is going to care about Trump after 28. He will not have any more power than any other rich dude. He is not a Republican and the GOP will drop him completely after 27.

I think she is a disillusioned true believer and sees things different now. It could be a “I don’t wanna be where I’m not wanted” thing but probably she has ambition for post trump times…
