Preface: I couldn't find an existing Davis Mills thread. Please don't castrate me.

Davis deserves a lot of credit for what he's done in CJ's absence. He's a very solid backup and I'm glad to have him. Thank you Davis!

Mills has been solid as a starter, except for the INT early in his 1st start, he's kept the ball secure and moved the ball down the field. I like that he gets rid of the ball quick when nothing is there and his accuracy has been pretty good.

Concur... but the back up and take a sack thing is baffling. He & CJ do the same thing. Looks like Mills figured out how to chuck it and make it look like a pass at least

You need guys like Mills on a team.
Felt so bad for him when they went with Case vs the Titans in 23', even though Case is a Houston legend.
It never phased him. bible study with the qb room continued as scheduled.

OK as a backup to game manage the QB position on a team w/ a great defense. On the other hand, that has been good enough to (barely) beat Jacksonville & Tennessee these past (2) weeks. It won’t be good enough to beat Buffalo or KC the next 2 weeks, and the team needs to win one of those w/ Bills at home Thursday looking like the best bet. In short, the team needs Stroud back right now

If mills can pull off a win against the bills Thursday, I don't want that pussi CJ in uniform ever again, trade him.

I want CJ back too, but he wasn't playing better than Mills is now.

I'm in AL and just got back to my room and saw the Bills score on the KO, but then Mills drives the ball down and scores right before the half. He looked great!

Now we need to open this up and let him burn the Bills down.

I'm dreaming, but can the Texans get a 2nd rounder for Mills next spring?

    Nah. Let's hold onto him.

Edit to add that I am grateful to the great job that Davis has done. Davis can manage the offense. However, to win a Super Bowl we need a QB that can ELEVATE the offense. CJ can definitely elevate the offense when he's on his game. Let's hope that CJ returns to that form. We need him!

Let's be real. If we get a 3rd, we'd all be ecstatic, cause apparently he's gonna get more than the 5mil he's getting this year. Also, we wouldn't be able to trade him after the season, as he's on a year to year contract, I believe.

You make a good point. Perhaps Davis will want more than we can pay. But I think the most he would warrant is a 5th, if that.

Thanks. I know. I believe the rationale of the poster who is advocating to trade Davis is that we can obtain a draft pick for him as opposed to him possibly leaving us after the 26' season.

I, however, doubt that we would get much and I would rather have him for next season to back up CJ than to trade him for a 4th or 5th round pick.

This season is the reason they should keep Mills around next season. Although I could see Mills as the Cards starting QB.

    Good Job, Mills.

Now, the pressure is now CJ Stroud. There have been encouraging signs from Caley in these 3 games. Mills is limited. He had ONE great quarter last night, with 3 bad ones. Stroud can take the offense to another level and make this team a TRUE contender.
The Oline is what it is, but it can be serviceable.
