The most important thing for the brave government bureaucrats sticking it out at OPM under this regime is to make sure they don't destroy ICE personnel records

Criminals posing as US immigration officers have carried out robberies, kidnappings, and sexual assaults in several states, warns a law enforcement bulletin issued last month by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The bureau urges agencies to ensure officers clearly identify themselves and to cooperate when civilians ask to verify an officer’s identity—including by allowing calls to a local police precinct. “Ensure law enforcement personnel adequality [sic] identify themselves during operations and cooperate with individuals who request further verification,” it says.

On August 7, according to the FBI, three men in black vests entered a New York restaurant claiming to be ICE agents. Inside, they tied a worker’s hands and pulled a garbage bag over the person’s head. Another, believing the burglars’ story, surrendered themselves, only to be kicked to the ground and tied up as the intruders robbed an ATM.

Cases cited by its advisory span kidnappings, street crime, and sexual violence: In Bay County, Florida, the advisory says, a woman “unzipped [her] jacket and revealed a shirt that said ICE” and told her ex-boyfriend’s wife she was there to “pick her up,” before driving her to an apartment complex. The woman later escaped. In Brooklyn, it alleges, a man told a woman he was an immigration officer and “directed [her] to a nearby stairwell,” where he punched her, tried to rape her, and stole her phone before police caught him. In Raleigh, North Carolina, it claims, a man “entered [a] motel room and threatened to deport the woman if she did not have sex with him,” telling her he was a sworn officer. He showed her a business card with a badge, police said.

The FBI describes a few signs of impersonation: forged or mismatched credentials, outdated protective gear, and cloned vehicle markings. It’s urging agencies to launch outreach programs aimed at identifying fake ICE agents, a step the FBI argues could counteract the mistrust caused by impersonators and strengthen law enforcement’s image.

Federal rules require immigration officers to identify themselves and state the reason for an arrest “as soon as it is practical and safe to do so.” The standard has not changed since it was codified in the 1990s, yet advocates say it is increasingly ignored. “The recent increased presence of armed, masked federal officers completely disrupts and erodes public trust in law enforcement,” says Alycia Castillo of the Texas Civil Rights Project. “Further, the increase in local cooperation with federal authorities through 287(g) agreements has led to a chilling effect on local law enforcement for communities,” she says, referring to a program that deputizes local police to act as immigration agents.

“When masked federal agents conceal their identity and authority as a practice, anyone can don a mask and a gun and not be expected or required to verify their authority,” she adds.

The growing use of such unmarked officers has raised questions for months about accountability and transparency in federal policing. However, the Trump administration frames ICE mask use as an officer-safety measure best left to the discretion of field leaders. At a recent press briefing, Department of Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem said, “They wear masks at times to protect their identities from dangerous situations. The leadership teams, we leave that up to them to discern what's necessary.”

DHS has argued that agents still identify themselves while masked: “When our heroic law enforcement officers conduct operations, they clearly identify themselves as law enforcement while wearing masks to protect themselves from being targeted by highly sophisticated gangs like Tren de Aragua and MS-13, criminal rings, murderers, and rapists,” assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a September statement. ICE acting director Todd Lyons echoed the safety rationale, telling Face the Nation this summer that while he’s “not a proponent of masks,” he would allow them “if that’s a tool that the men and women of ICE [choose] to use to protect themselves and their families.”

they’re so full of sh*t, and calling these thugs “heroic” is a huge joke

Trump is the biggest threat to America this nation has ever seen. He's a raging sociopath getting off on watching people get terrorized, watching folks suffer, all while wheeling and dealing to enrichen himself and his family.

No one should be surprised that the public is less safe because of “criminal-like” operations carried out by armed, masked federal officers, which only make it easier for actual criminals to impersonate ICE.

Bovino admits multiple lies to Federal judge in a sworn deposition when confronted with a video that contradiced everything to which he testified. Only the best people. Jail time for purjury would be appropriate. In any other administration, they'd absolutely be disgraced and out of a job, and probably in jail. I imagine Donnie gives him an attaboy.

I have two things to say about this. First of all, that is disgusting. Those thug ICE enforcers obviously aren't trained to deal with someone with special needs, or they simply don't care. Anyone with an ounce of training should be able to tell that man who is non-verbal, and whining like that has some type disability, even if they don't know crap about the signs of autism. I wonder if onlookers told them right away and they ignored it or what.

Second, and even more important is that he shouldn't be out without an adult guardian if he is non-verbal and on the spectrum, especially with what's going on in this country right now. Whoever is his caretaker should never have put him at risk like that for being without a voice and guardian out on the streets. It's sickening. My heart goes out to him.

Not sure if this has been shrared here today...

Venezuelans sent by Trump to El Salvador endured systematic torture, report finds

Human rights groups accuse Trump officials of complicity and draw comparison with scandal at Abu Ghraib prison

    The Guardian

More than 252 Venezuelans expelled to El Salvador under Donald Trump’s mass deportation policy suffered systematic and prolonged torture and abuse, including sexual assault, during their detention, according to a report published on Wednesday.

The report, compiled jointly by Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Cristosal – a group investigating violations in Central America – says conditions at El Salvador’s sprawling “terrorist continent center” (Cecot) breached the UN’s standard minimal rules for the treatment of prisoners. It cites “inhumane prison conditions, including prolonged incommunicado detention, inadequate food” and other shortcomings.

The groups accuse the Trump administration of willful complicity in the suffering deportees endured after being flown to El Salvador in March and April, insisting that it ordered the men’s deportation while fully aware that they would be mistreated or even face threats to their lives.
They are calling an “independent investigation” by the US justice department, although they admit the prospect is unlikely. They are also demanding the Trump administration stop deporting third-country nationals to El Salvador.

US connivance in what is depicted as a systematic pattern of torture and human rights abuses evokes comparison with the scandal at Bahghdad’s Abu Ghraib facility during the “war on terror”, they say.

“We reached the conclusion that the Trump administration is complicit in systematic torture and enforced disappearances of the Venezuelans sent to El Salvador,” said Juanita Goebertus, HRW’s Americas director.

Citing previous state department reports recording harsh prison conditions in El Salvador, she added: “The administration knew that they were sending people to a place where they could be tortured and could be facing life-threatening risks.”

They are such a POS............what's weird is, I work down off 290 and Hempstead and its a very Hispanic working area and even at the Home Depot I see the guys out there all day and have never seen ICE in the area. I mean, what is the purpose of arresting a guy trying to make a living who pays taxes and doesn't get anything "free", sure, get the bad criminals but there must have not been very many of those. They should have a bunch of Gen Z white males in the vans so when the arrest someone, the white male can take the job

ICE agent arrested for pulling gun on Southern California teen, lawyer says

A 45-year-old Riverside County man, who reportedly works as a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, is accused of illegally detaining a minor at gunpoint while off duty last week.

In footage of the incident obtained by KTLA, the 45-year-old, w T-shirt and cut-off jeans, is seen pulling a gun from his waistband as he walked up the street, pointing it at the teen’s truck and demanding he stop the vehicle while reportedly brandishing his badge.

“Freeze, police,” Rodriguez shouts. “Put the car in f****** park. Get out of the car. Turn it off,
get out. You’re speeding in the f****** neighborhood. Come over here, sit down, get your a** down.
    You have a driver’s license?”

He then began interrogating the teen, asking him who he was, where he is from and demanding documentation, eventually drawing the attention of others who live on the street.

I saw another video where ICE rolled up on 2 dudes that were blowing leaves and started questioning their citizenship and demanding ID

imagine if they didn’t have their ID on them at that moment…they would’ve been scooped up and whisked away to some detention facility with family and friends having no idea where they are or what happened to them

They lie about everything. This was headline news in Chicago for weeks @Nook . CBP claimed they were afraid of their lives. Now we know it was all a lie

They're still in CLT. Don't believe reports that say they've left. In the unlikely event that anyone is reading this that needs to worry, I saw a handful of them on their "off hours" tonight in the uptown area, including one female latino that was quite beautiful on the outside. :(
