I'll take my chances. Of course I'm not a believer in CJ and I hope I'm wrong. Eagles/Cincy made the SB on their QB;s rookie deals. Bottom line is Mahomes/Stafford/Brady have skewed the numbers.
Great post, so the number is less than 13%. They need to keep this in mind when they start negotiating with CJ.
You don't run an NFL franchise with a "Super Bowl of bust" mentality - that's a fool's errand. Your goal should instead be a top-2 seed - that greatly increases your chances in the midst of a total crapshoot. IOW, stop looking at random Super Bowl runs and trying to draw any conclusions.
Chiefs, Patriots, and Giants won multiple. Eagles won with 1 journeyman and Hurts (Max Level). Ravens won with Flacco (who wasn’t top tier money, Eagles didn't win until Hurts was paid. Bengals haven't sniff the Super Bowl since that one season with Burrow.
I would buy low on CJ right now and extend him. Now if I were CJ I'd probably bet on myself and would not take a discounted contract, but if I were Nick I'd be kicking the tires on a reasonable extension that is not top of the market.
I love CJ but IMO he isn't worth that and if I am being honest most of the QB`s outside of Mahomes, Jackson, Josh Allen, Stafford and Goff are not worth that. I hope they pick up the 5th year option which gives him 2 more years to show us he is or isnt Can you imagine being the Jags and paying all that money for an average QB?
I just hope the McNair's dont put their team in that position. Make no mistake, the call to re-sign/pay CJ will be the McNair's call and not the football people's call.
I would have fired Cesario on basic principal if he even suggested going into this season without significant line upgrades. Not only did we do that, we actually traded our best pass protector. We are gonna have to pay Stroud a lot of money, and at this point I honestly have no clue if he really is a potential superstar being held back by an awful line, or if he's Andy Dalton.
You don't understand the NFL. Stroud is better than an "average" QB. You understand that average QBs do not make the playoffs and win playoff games in their 1st 2 years? He has had a dogshit Oline that EVERYONE sees, along with virtually no run game. You want to go into QB hell? There are MANY NFL teams searching year after year for QBs. The longer you wait to pay Stroud, he will get more expensive...when he performs at a higher level. Just ask Jerry Jones when you wait on how more expensive a QB gets.
crazy to me is that still a majority choose not to wear it. Like have they seen Antonio Brown recently?
CJ wasn't avg his first year. But yes avg QBs make the playoffs all of the time. Goff, Hurts, Heck even Hoyer for the Texans.
