I was so disgusted by the inbound turnover I figured the games was over. I turned off the game and walked my dog. At some point late last night it occurred to me to check the box score. Boy was i pleasantly surprised. lol.

 

Holiday needs more minutes with or with out Tari playing. Okogie isn’t a huge upgrade over him. Especially when he can’t hit his open threes.

it’s a disadvantage when you have two now shooting threats on the perimeter in your starting lineup with amen and Okogie.


I heard the guys on locked on Rockets take a subtle shot at Tari for his great shooting season so far talking about can we get that type of performance agaisnt good teams. Keep that same energy for Okogie and Amen

 

After 15 games it was clear neither was steve nash.

 

Maybe this group (the coaches and players) will get serious about running some inbound plays. This is not about having a PG. We fail to prioritize and practice these types of situations. It's the only way to explain why we were historically bad in these moments.

 

I was too drunk to post last night, full nfl slate and all but I was watching this game. I called game at 100/97 orl with .33 seconds to go and kd said

Spent the day at RenFest yesterday and when I got home I was so tired that I forgot about this game. I knew it was going to be good, too.

Great outcome, wish I had watched. Games like this build team chemistry.

 

It's really Ime's main flaw, not on who plays point. He's not a play drawing coach and it's obvious by the way we do everything. I'm sure his defensive schemes are top 1/2 in the league in truth but he just needs somebody with more offensive acumen to help him scheme things up on that end. It took how long before we started running off-ball screens and that was probably KD more than Ime? We need that assistant who can come up with those inbound plays and last minute genius manoeuvres and that'll leave us with very little actual weakness at all as a squad.

 

That hook shot was breathtaking except if you were on the other side in which case…

 

I missed the game and haven't sifted through this 80-some-odd page thread, so, Why the eff didn't Ime give Uncle Jeff and Tate a few minutes? Just a few? Tari goes on his annual paid vacation and Ime suddenly goes small.

 

honestly I watch most of the games in the morning with coffee. I just have to avoid checking reddit/box scores in the evening.

Bonus is I get to skip all the commercials.

 

If Reed ever does this to Draymond, he should immediately have his jersey retired and placed in the ring of honor.

 

Tate's been crap anyway, but actually Reed's stepped up massively and made up for Okogie having a bad one. I'm not sure what Jeff would've really added to the game if I'm honest, it just didn't cross my mind. It was the Reed show early on and then just enjoying watching KD and Alpi play like stars and win it for us, I honestly just wasn't remotely considering "oh ****, I wish Uncle Jeff was playing" at all.

Man I think about IME not being a play drawing coach and I think back to that Sengun backdoor against the Celtics last year. And then even despite last night's awful outcome on the play, if Sengun anticipates Amen getting open (which was a reasonable assumption b/c the defense doesn't want to leave KD in that scenario) then he could have made the pass before Orlando cutoff the angle and it's an easy layup.

If the play was either 1) KD will be single covered so give it to him up top or 2) if he's not single covered you'll have a 2 second window to get it to Amen for a backdoor then I have to say it worked perfectly.

Now, I'm not going to pretend the 10 other awful inbound outcomes this year haven't happened. They absolutely have. But it just makes me wonder if we're a bit skewed by the outcome vs the X's and O's which in the cases above have been solid.

 

Holiday sucks at defense. Offense is not our problem. Besides Okogie is shooting 45.7% from 3 to Holiday’s 45.5%.

 

We have struggled with inbound passes for 2 years now. Seems like we could work that out in practice. How many times does the whole team run down the court and have to be called back? It’s ridiculous. I agree that was a good play that I suppose Ime drew up, but our continued suckage at inbounds is an indictment on the coaches not the players.
