It would behoove the rockets staff to keep him out as long as possible from a negotiating standpoint to resign him as an RFA Not nice but it is what it is
Tari was playing great and looked like he was on his way to a better contract than what we offered. Maybe? But that's done now, at least for me. He is injury-prone and it's not his fault but it is what it is. He really should've taken the money. We can't depend on an injury-prone player and need to figure out how to get value out of him. I hate that this is how it is but there's no way we can change it. Either give him a fair contract given his injuries or trade him at some point. (And his mom is annoying.)
THIS posts makes zero sense. THIS injury is added to the list of multiple injuries which makes him injury prone. How he recovers means literally nothing. You do realise injury prone is the propensity to be injured? Not the recovery rate? Good lord.
With this injury Tari already cemented his reputation as an injury prone player. There are few things in the NBA that crash your value more than being seen as injury prone, look at Kawhi, Zion and Day to Davis. Technically all 3 of these guys still play at a high level but nobody wants them cuz they are all injury prone. I doubt he makes more than the 20-25M range in RFA. He might even get the 15-20 range.
He has had two injuries as a Rocket. Lower leg injury. This 2nd injury. I think there was also a concussion, but I don't count that as an injury here. It was one injury - a lower leg injury that we all thought was not that serious that turned out to be very serious, and he lost a lot of playing time over that injury. We STILL aren't sure if he has fully recovered from that leg injury or if he's still limited (can't play b2b, for example). So, the "injury prone" here isn't about the number of injuries, but about his recovery. His recovery is exceedingly abnormal in that we didn't expect it to be anywhere near that long, and it seems the Rockets didn't either. This second injury can be another indicator. If he recovers normally (4-6 weeks), then it's not unusual. If he's again sidelined for an extended abnormal time, then there is something strange going on with his recovery from injuries and you can say he's "injury prone" -- not in the sense that he has a lot of injuries (he doesn't), but that his recovery time is abnormally long.
It's hilarious you're trying to argue against a guy being injury prone, when the franchise flat out refused to give him a lot of money because he's injury prone. What a weird hill to make a stand on.
Maybe he is injury prone, maybe he has had bad luck. Either way, the amount of time he has missed makes him an injury concern at the least, and will be taken into account come RFA by other teams as they have to make an offer big enough for us not to match him but then if they do they will be stuck with him if injury prone. That or he takes another risk by doing a minimum contract for a year somewhere in order to be free, but will he risk being injured again over long security money? Time will tell.
Funny. Already forgot what you were saying huh? Yikes. I like when posters make it clear as day they deserve to be ignored so as to not clutter Clutchfans with moronic garbage.
and read his next sentence genius. Lol it’s like you work in the media and try to take everything out of context amiga
No, it's clear you have an inability to make a logical argument, and then when it's disproven you pretend what you said isn't what you said. I had to show ignored content to see the hilarity you replied with to justify your position. Son, you did not disappoint.
Meh. Qualify it however you like, I'm gonna say the guy that's missed half of his career games is injury prone.
Amiga is a solid guy......I think the thing is Tari is no AD but he is putting himself in that territory and he is surely no Iron man. He is also a lot leaner than I thought he should be.......for all the draft reports that he was one of the stronger players, he is just not durable. Steven Adams is strong as an ox.....can absorb contact a lot better.
We do need a Caruso type. Can Reed and Amen handle the PG duties in the playoffs or against strong defenses in the regular season is still a big question? Running the offense through Sengun is only a partial solution. Tari's injury hurt us against the Magic. It was a difficult win , even in the absence of Banchero.
I think more and more we're starting to become a team that's built around Sengun being the focal point of the offense. I've been an Amen booster more than most, but I can't deny what Alpi has done so far this season. He's not the Joker, but he is at least the closest approximation who currently plays basketball, and he's only 23. For now, I'm fine with us leaning into that and seeing where it gets us. I never really thought we'd win a championship this season, although I do think there's at least a chance of it. RE: Losing Tari, we just have to hope DFS returning is a couple weeks away rather than two months away. It's always so hard to tell with this franchise what's going on medically. They seem to have decided hard against being transparent with the fans, we've seen it over and over again.
The ridiculous thing is that the insurance we got for Tari is also injured. In hindsight we should have just kept Dillon Brooks. Maybe we can get him back for free as a FA in a couple of years.
