He was moody all night. I'm glad he's shooting the 3 at an insane % now but I still see him 2-3 times per game refusing to either attempt contesting someone in the paint or bother going up to grab a rebound. I don't know if it's because he's disengaged, unhappy with his role or whatever. This is the problem with not getting extensions done before seasons start, you speculate everything about a player whenever an argument on court gets caught on camera. I don't think it's a big deal as long as we're winning but I doubt we're going to be able to keep him next off-season. I think front office will choose Okogie over Eason next off-season even though Eason would be the better player because of money constraints. I wish our bench players like Eason and previously Cam would be more like OKC's bench players.. never hear about them b****ing about minutes or contracts. It's probably why they just have an insanely deep bench and oh, let's not forget they have 2 top 10 picks this year and 4 frps total in the stacked 26' draft.
Yes, it has flaws and can be noisy, especially without a full season or season's sample size. He is doing well no doubt. But if you look over multiple seasons as a individual player Tari has often out performed Jabari statistically in his time as a whole, but Jabari did very well in the playoffs which I liked. Tari did the same performances in his samples as a starter over seasons also with different casts. We can agree to disagree here. Official Documentation Box Plus/Minus (BPM): Basketball Reference BPM Guide Glossary of Stats: Basketball Reference Glossary What Is Box Plus/Minus (BPM)? Definition: BPM is a per-100 possession estimate of a player's contribution to team performance, combining box score stats with regression-based weights. Formula: It uses box score inputs (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, etc.) and adjusts for team performance and position. Variants: OBPM: Offensive Box Plus/Minus DBPM: Defensive Box Plus/Minus VORP: Value Over Replacement Player, derived from BPM What Is Net Rating? Definition: Net Rating = Offensive Rating − Defensive Rating Offensive Rating: Points scored per 100 possessions while the player is on the court Defensive Rating: Points allowed per 100 possessions while the player is on the court Use: Common in team analytics and lineup efficiency tracking ⚠️ Flaws and Noise in BPM and Net Rating 1. Team Context Bias BPM and Net Rating are heavily influenced by teammates and opponents. A player on a strong lineup may have inflated metrics even with modest individual impact. 2. Defensive Estimation DBPM is not directly observed — it’s inferred from team defense and box score proxies (steals, blocks). This makes defensive BPM less reliable, especially for players who defend well without generating box score stats. 3. Small Sample Volatility In limited minutes or games, BPM and Net Rating can swing wildly. Bench players or rookies often show misleading extremes due to low sample size. 4. Role and Usage Effects Players with low usage (e.g., 3&D wings) may be undervalued by BPM. High-usage players can be penalized for inefficiency even if they carry the offense. 5. No Context for Matchups or Schemes BPM doesn’t account for who a player is guarding or offensive system fit. Net Rating doesn’t isolate individual impact from lineup synergy. Summary BPM is a regression-based estimate of player value per 100 possessions, useful for broad comparisons. Net Rating is simpler, but highly context-dependent. Both are directionally useful, but can be noisy due to team effects, defensive estimation, and sample size. Always pair these metrics with film, role context, and lineup data for deeper analysis.
We can disagree there. Jabari has been healthier than Tari and played well in the playoffs in his role. Jabari has also missed time, not as much for sure and Tari has had arguably better regular season numbers in his time over the years. Pay Jabari by all means and let Tari hit restricted, not advocating for a contract dollar amount (but they should get it done imo), just looking at numbers over seasons. I'll move on from this one as well.
You can give Jabari the edge for health, although he has missed time with injuries in the past as well. And also Jabari played well in the playoffs. But he has not been better statistically in their time over their career. If Tari is a starter you likely see the same also, as his starter samples are similar as well. I'l move on guys, we'l agree to disagree. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/e/easonta01/splits/
In last seasons playoffs Jabari played way better than Tari. Ime incomprehensiblly played Jabari less.
It's kinda interesting that the pro-Tari posting in response includes per minute/per 36 projection stats and career stats but conveniently miss **this season's per game stats**. I mean, what's the take, Tari should start over Jabari because 3 years ago he was better? Yes, Jabari had a freak hand injury in practice. Seems like a different thing than Tari's general availability question, wouldn't you agree? I hope Tari's ok but he plays about half the games and has a rod in his leg. I think that Jabari is overall the better player, but Tari has specialist qualities in specific areas. Like Jabari covers the whole floor defensively but Tari is a beast on the nail. Jabari is a better overall offensive weapon but Tari is better at catch and shoot threes. And I'm not on the gas, Jabari still needs to bump his efficiency up, and stay in the weight room. But between his overall skill, improvement, mentality, availability, fit with the team... I don't think there's really much of a question why he starts.
He is also 3 years younger. Eason is best when coming off the bench. If he was starting I thnk he would get in foul trouble almost every game. They are both great role players for this team and I hope we keep them both if the cost is reasonable.
He's been a fragile emotion little b*tch ever since game one. Sulking at not getting a contract. Got to hurt even more so yet another injury with so little of the season already played. The last remaining low IQ player in the rotation.
