If that's your criteria then you're talking about "Best Player" not "Most Valuable" You do understand that those are two different things, right?
Exactly, a catcher that did the things Raleigh did this year is far more valuable than what Judge did IMHO. Great defensive player and did historic things with the bat for the catcher position.
The only issue is that cal was inarguably less valuable. That’s a fact. Why would you want a less valuable player winning mvp over a more valuable player?
MLB sucks, Judge given a fraudulent MVP, the Dodgers well over a half billion in payroll (see deferred payments) buying championships. What a crock. Keep up the great work Manfred.
That’s simply factually wrong. War takes position into account and he was less valuable than judge. It’s not an opinion, it’s an indisputable fact. You can say you don’t like judge and want someone else to win, or you like cal so you want him to win. What you absolutely cannot say is cal deserved to win, there is no argument for that.
Another reason I think trading Diaz is a mistake. At some point, his bat is going to become more steady. Caratini really should be a backup catcher.
Maybe MLB should just give the award to the WAR leader… or make a separate award for the WAR leader every year?
