Hate to say it, but FVV being injured for the season saved Ime from making an ass of himself by not playing Reed enough. The kid was due.
The wild thing is that he still looks like a baby. The thought of a shooter like this with 5+ years of experience and shot making confidence, veteran savvy, and respect from the refs makes me very excited. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but it's rough out there these days and I need a little optimism where I can get it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to mentally prepare for him to miss every shot on Friday.
Worst case scenario, we now have creditable trade value for the pick we took in 2023. This should have happened a long time ago, but Ime was being an ass to a good kid.
Not to be that guy but Steph Curry and Reed have very similar per 36mpg age 21 season (Steph was a rook)
I thought he was going to pump fake and drive. He surprised me with that side step shot. I was like WOW!
Exactly! Reed clearly wasn't ready last year, at least at the beginning. It was so painful to watch and many of us here wondered why it took Ime so long to finally put Reed in G-League for a few games. We know why now. Last season should be completely forgotten. All that matters is Reed is ready now and can have a big impact on the season. I don't want to know what his career 3-point percentage is. As far as I'm concerned, his career is the first 10 games of 2025/26.
There's no worst case scenario - you don't trade someone who lights it up like that so effortlessly and purely - period. He has a handful of quality minutes so far in his career at his age, and he's shooting godly numbers. Not to mention he's a high IQ player. You hold onto Reed unless it's a legitimate superstar coming through the door. No Reed isn't equivalent to a superstar, but you weigh where this franchise is at and where it will be in 5 years etc which heavily influences the decision. A knock down shooter and high IQ player like Reed with 5 more years of experience and confidence. Good lord.
There was a worst case scenario according to this board collective just a few weeks ago. And the worst part about it was that his trade value kept slipping because we never gave him the minutes he deserved. Now the entire NBA knows and they all want him.
