There's already a work requirement on SNAP. The sad part is just how utterly clueless he is about the law. He literally has no idea about any policy.

This - plus I live primarily in the Midwestern United States now. I don't think that most people realize how incredibly isolated that farmers are. They only have interactions with family members that live with them, or in special social events that are attended by other local farmers. When they go to school, they go to school in isolated schools that are small and that are full of students that look like them, have the same experiences as them and also have teachers that are often farmers or come from farmers. They also typically are religious Christian WASPs, that also consume the same media sources. Even when they go to court or the store, it is around the same areas. So it isn't at all surprising that a lot of farmers are not fans of the modern Democratic party. Also, keep in mind that religion is a big part of what they do socially - and many Democrats at the leadership level look down upon religious people. They also see drug addicts on the streets on television in places like Philadelphia and LA and San Francisco... they see LGBTQ media where people are very flamboyant and foreign to them... they read about black gangs in Chicago and NYC......... and they get a distorted view of the world outside of their small towns, which they have idealized.

Trump understand that many people at a very base level do not care if their biases or prejudices are or are not true, they just want someone to confirm it is okay to hold their biases and to spoon feed them half-truths so their conscious is clean.

Go ahead, keep underestimating a man that has managed to be elected President twice, that has convinced 40% of the USA that he is worthy of being President even though he encouraged an insurrection, has paid women for abortions, has been impeached twice - has massive judgments against him for his activities and is currently the most powerful politician in the USA since FDR. The man does not sit down and study policy like Stephen Miller or Cecillia Rouse - but he is aware of basic policy and he is aware that he is lying, and he knows he will get away with it. Does he play 4-D chess on obscure policy provisions, or Constitutional maneuverings? No, he is aware to the extent that he believes he needs to be. He does play 4-D chess when it comes to running a campaign and understanding what motivates many people at a very base level, in a way that others in general are not. He is also incredibly good at identifying marks and gas lighting people. The idea that he just magically fell into the Whitehouse twice is absurd.

Hmmm... I would say he's more akin to Hitler in this way than any other way people try to compare. I do NOT believe that he has any understanding of policy. He has routinely been caught getting basic level parts of policy wrong, not knowing what countries are in agreements, etc. Where he compares to Hitler is that Hitler was ALSO a moron on economic policy, military policy, etc. BUT had the ability to understand and articulate base frustration. For years in this country both parties tried to argue policy nuance and stats and then along came Trump and spewed absolutely BS and made up numbers right and left and proved it doesn't matter. What matters is that he knows how to push the buttons and pull the levers of the aggrieved.
What's wild about Trump is that so many of his followers project an alpha male image onto him even though his biggest hobbies outside of golf are interior design and Broadway show tunes. He's basically a mean Liberace.
