He can catch and shoot well AND he can get his own off the dribble that is the making of an EXCELLENT NBA player. DD
Yep. He just has to do it consistently and play better at defense. I am excited about his progression and hope it is for real, but it is still a small sample size at it is with Amen at point. Let’s just wait and see if it pans out before dismiss either player. It’s alright to have an opinion about the long-term viability of players at a position or how their NBA careers are going to pan out, but the vitriol for those opinions about your own team’s players is unnecessary and immature at best and plain ass trolling at worst.
Dude 2 days ago you were a hater of Reed, glad to see you finally see what others have seen all along. DD
I ground my opinions in reality and reject irrational opinions not grounded in reality. You want Amen to be a PG because you think it'll be best for him if one day he learns how to play that position. I want what the evidence shows to be the best for the Rockets.
Hater is such an over used term on this board. I have stated my opinion of Reed’s long-term future as a starting pg. I have also stated I hope that I am wrong. That is not hate and is a reasonable take that it might not happen. Reed might have a couple of terrible games or two in the upcoming schedule. Am I supposed to just use the last several games and not give my honest opinion? Same with Amen. My opinion is he’s going to be a great point guard despite his difficulties in a few games and have stated what I think he needs to do to improve. It doesn’t make me an Amen only fan, I am giving an honest opinion. Some people, mostly the biggest ass on the board, called me a Jalen only fan and FVV hater, just because I said I’d rather trade FVV than Jalen in the Durant trade and that I pointed out that he was a bottom five Pg in the league last year. Neither was even close to true. I take pride in being fair in my opinions and am really sick of being characterized as anything other than an individual that looks at both sides of the ball and gives honest opinions. The whole only fan bs and hater stuff is extremely immature and frankly beneath a mature adult like yourself.
The evidence is only 8 games old and he was the best player on the court in several of those games. I think it is better for the Rockets that he performs well as a pg. He can play both point guard and the dunker spot, but he will be more valuable to the Rockets as a PG if he can master it. If he can’t fine. Sorry if I disagree with your reality as it seems to make you unhinged.
Ill be looking for this more in the coming games, but I want to point out that there were two instances during the game I saw Reed being vocal and getting guys into position on offense. This was something he specifically mentioned during sumner league interviews that the coaches wanted him to be one of the leaders as the pg. He talked about how with the summer league group he took on that role and wanted to carry that over into the regular season. If he keeps playing like he has guys will start respecting his direction more and he'll gain the confidence to become more of a floor general for us. Looking forward to how all this develops. Stay tuned.
This is the 2nd time I'm noticing you're mentioning that Amen might force a trade if he's not playing the PG. With all due respect, this is triggering me for some reason. I've never seen you posting hate comments about any of the players ever. But it's extremely hard not to see that you have Amen blinders on. Didn't you say that you wouldn't even watch Rockets if Amen wasn't here? Or sth along those lines? News flash: Amen is not a superstar. Doesn't have the influence to force a trade. He'll do as the organization pleases. Good day sir. Wake me up when he becomes one...
The best Amen has looked this season is when he returned to the dunker's spot and his overall numbers lag behind most of the team.... largely due to trying to play out of position so often. His TS% is the second worst on the roster and his BPM is negative and one of the worst on the roster.... he had the highest TS% among the rotation players last season and the second highest BPM only behind Sengun. We took a rising star and made him bad by playing him out of position.... and for some reason you want that to continue.
Great thread and great breakdown of his defensive improvement, which has been noticeable the last couple of games. I agree that we don’t have a point guard on this team and that Reed is the closest thing. I think @Will might be higher on Reed’s ball handling than I am. I don’t think it’s a strong suit. But comparatively to anyone else we have, I agree. I’d rather give him the full season on-ball to see if he can grow into a true point guard than experiment with other players. But I don’t think he’s a full-time player yet, so we still have a massive hole in the backcourt. Regardless I’m excited to see the defensive improvement continue. I need to see a solid sample size of solid defense before I can lessen my concerns.
Nice breakdown. I've been mostly focused on Reed's shooting, which has been phenomenal so far this season, but I agree his defense is showing some improvement as well.
https://www.espn.com/gaming/story/_/id/46928981/nba-2k26-ratings-update-lauri-markkanen-luka-doncic Reed is +4 in his NBA 2K rating this season.
This is a fact. He’s a special passer, though not in a traditional sense. His ability to pass over the top to a roller is a thing of beauty. I’d like to see him get some lobs to Amen.
FVV thinks he's that guy but he does the Shane Battier stuff too so everyone lets it slide. I'd rather him do his best old man CP3 impression and let Reed get the reps. Higher ceiling but lower floor. Last year's draft class was a bit of a **** show
Imagine my shock to come into this thread and discover that Bobby found someone to argue with. Gotta love it.
